Who you hire matters!

Back in November 2024, I had a call with a long-time client who wanted to explore moving to Florida.
We talked strategy, loan options, and what it would take to make it happen.

Fast forward to today—he just got a high-paying, salaried job offer in the area he wants to move to.

But there’s one challenge: high credit card debt that’s keeping his credit score from being where we’d like it to be.

Here’s the plan we put together:

✅ Once his current home sells, he’ll use part of the proceeds to pay off credit card debt, improving his credit score and increasing his buying power.

✅ We reviewed FHA vs. Conventional loan options to determine the best fit.

-Conventional requires 5% down, while FHA allows for 3.5% down.

-FHA offers lower monthly mortgage insurance—a $266/month difference.

-FHA rates were over 1% lower for his credit profile, resulting in a $647 lower monthly payment.

Dear Grandpa,

I’ve had a lot of different emotions and memories come through my mind over the last few weeks leading up to your passing.

One of the memories that’s to come mind is when you were building your home in Provo you would show me different things you had done with framing, placing blocking in the wall for a future TV mount, and all the other intricate details of the home. After each thing you shared, you would say it’ll make it real “slick” with it being done that way.

After hearing you say slick a lot I started thinking of a nickname for you, but couldn’t figure out what it would be. Then I started piecing it together when I thought of how you love giving Susie BIG smooches and you go by Skip. This was the light bulb moment I was looking for, putting all this together your nickname was Triple S (Slick, Smooching, Skip).

I remember after I shared the nickname I came up with for you, you got a big smile and laughed. ❤️ I cherish the time I was able to spend with you working on the house and the conversations we had.

You’ll always be remembered by me as a man who fiercely loved his Susie, his kids, and grandchildren. You truly embodied the acronym for FAMILY, forget about me I love you. You were a man of faith, a man who was a student of his profession, and loved by all.

I hope you were able to greet John on the other side and let him know how much I love and miss him. ❤️

Your presence here on Earth will be missed, and I hope you know that we’ll take care of your Susie while you’re not with us anymore.

I love you, and may God be with you until we meet again Triple S.

Recently, I was interviewed on Build A Lifestyle Podcast by my mentor and brother Michael Burns.

I was able to share the journey I’ve been on the last four years and all the personal growth I’ve experienced during this time frame.

I started coaching with Mike in 2022 and everything he taught me regarding personal and self development helped lay the foundation I’ve been building my life off of.

The last four years haven’t been easy at all. I’ve gone through adversity at some of the highest levels from losing a mentor/older brother figure Chris Palmer, letting go of professional and family relationships that were toxic, forging a different path spiritually, tearing my ACL, among many other things.

Despite all the challenges I’ve experienced, I’m grateful for the lessons they have taught me and the man they’ve helped me become.

I’m grateful I get the chance every day I wake up to grow and become a better version of myself. We’re only guaranteed this one life, and we might as well make the most of it!
