🚨 TORNADO WARNING — TAKE COVER NOW 🚨
Until 1:45 PM CDT
📍 East-Central Sioux & SW Emmons Counties

At 1:24 PM, radar spotted a storm with strong rotation 8 miles east of Fort Yates (18 miles SW of Linton) moving north at 15 mph.

Hazard: 🌪️ Tornado possible
Impacts:

Flying debris = dangerous

Roof, window, and vehicle damage possible

Mobile homes may be destroyed

Tree damage likely

⚠️ Location: Rural east-central Sioux into SW Emmons Co. — including Cattail Recreation Area.

👉 Action:
Get to a basement or interior room NOW. Stay away from windows. If outside, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle — move to the nearest sturdy shelter immediately.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for tomorrow (Sunday) across the far southwest and portions of the far south central. Northwest winds to 35 mph and gusts to 50 mph will be possible. Use extra caution, especially if traveling.

While there is still some uncertainty in exact snowfall totals, there is medium to high chances for much of North Dakota seeing at least 4 inches of snow, with the highest chances across the north central and Turtle Mountains. This, combined with the potential for strong winds, will lead to the possibility of moderate impacts, including hazardous driving conditions and disruptions to outdoor activities. Stay tuned for further updates with regards to this system.

BISMARCK, N.D. – North Dakota Highway 1804 is now closed at mile point 52, three miles north of the Hazelton Recreation Area, due to an emergency culvert replacement.

A detour is in place from ND 13 east to Linton, then north on U.S. Highway 83 to Sterling, and west on Interstate 94 back to ND 1804. The detour will remain in place until the culvert repair is completed.
