~ ON TONIGHT'S SHOW, IT'S A MILWAUKEE METALFEST PREVIEW! ~
Happy "Tear-It-Up-Tuesday", REBEL RADIO Family! It's Kevin Smith inviting you to hang out with me, this evening, from 7:00 PM until Midnight (U.S. Central Time) for a very special show. Since December of last year, the station has been running commercials for the annual event, "Milwaukee Metalfest". Well, that long-awaited bash is finally taking place this weekend; Friday through Sunday, June 5th, 6th and 7th, at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There will be about 70 bands playing, on multiple stages, over the 3-day fest. It's probably the main event of the year, if you're into Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. So, you should plan on going, if you don't have tickets, already! But for tonight's main feature, I've selected 10 bands, from each day of the Metalfest, and we'll be hearing some of their work, to sort of warm you up, for this weekend; which, by all indications, is going to kick ass! 🤘😆🤘 We'll get to that feature, right after we take care of a couple of items of business, first. Such as, some new releases to check out from: Flotsam & Jetsam, In This Moment, A Perfect Circle and a few more. Also, it's the first show of the month. Which, of course, means that we'll have the Album Of The Month, for June, tonight. What album is it? Well, for once, I'm not gonna tell you. You're just going to have to tune in, to find out! That's ONE (just one) specially-selected, kick ass Metal song, from each year, for the last half-century. We'll start off, with the year 1976, play one cranker from that year, and then move on, immediately to 1977. ~ 9 YEARS AGO, THIS WEEK (5/22/17), I STARTED AT REBEL RADIO! 😲 ~
Wow, that went fast! But, time always flies, when you're having fun, doesn't it? And I've definitely had fun, being a part of the team, at "The Hardest Station In The Nation", REBEL RADIO, and have been grateful, for the opportunity! So, thanks much, to Scott Davidson for that, and thanks, especially, to all of you, who listen, to this unique station! I'm fortunate to have a group of real, core listeners, who've stayed with me, throughout the years; and through the different nights that I've been on. First it was Mondays, then Saturdays, and now, for the last few years, it's been "Tear-It-Up-Tuesdays"! Hey, and guess what? That's what's happening, tonight! So, please hang out with me, Kevin Smith for the final five hours of today. Which would be 7:00 PM, until Midnight (Chicago Time). I think I've got a most entertaining show in store, for all-a' youz. Tonight's main feature is something I haven't done, for a few years. It's a series of double-doses, by bands, where the theme will be, "First Release / Latest Release". The first song of each double-dose will be from that band's debut release. And the 2nd will be their most brand-spankingest, newest stuff, to date. I think yer gonna love it! ~ IT'S "TEAR-IT-UP-TUESDAY", MY FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK! ~
Ain't it the truth, though? How's it going, kids? It's Kevin Smith, checking in with you, once again, to drop off your weekly invite, to join me, this evening, on the one-and-only REBEL RADIO! After that, we'll be heading into the REBEL RADIO time machine, and spiriting ourselves back, a full 41 years, to the year 1985, for an in-depth perusal of the awesome, and now classic, Metal released that year! New stuff from: Venom, Dust Bolt, Nonpoint, Jungle Rot, Lex Legion (consisting of former King Diamond band members), and more. 🇲🇽 ¡Hola! This, "Tear-It-Up-Tuesday" falls on Cinco De Mayo...Dále! 🇲🇽
Buenos Dias, Metalheads! This is Kevin Smith, greeting you, on this first Tuesday, of May, which also happens to fall on the Mexican holiday of Cinco De Mayo. Admittedly, there aren't a whole lot of tie-ins, between this holiday and Metal music. But I did manage to find six, slammin' bands, from America's southern neighbors, to kick off tonight's show, for our opening, uninterrupted 6-Pack. Proving that they know how to bring the heavy, down in "The Land Of The Hot Sun" (Mexico's official nickname...I looked it up.) 😄 There's lots to get to, on tonight's show, which will begin at 7:00 PM, Chicago time, and cruise all the way through, until Midnight; when it will, of course, officially be, Seis De Mayo. at that point. LoL We've got the Album Of The Month, tonight. It's one that I have been anxiously awaiting, for the past few months. It's the brand new album from Corrosion Of Conformity, entitled "Good God/Baad Man" (sic). This is C.O.C.'s first album, in 8 years; and it sounds, to me, like they haven't lost a step! Very solid album, which we will be hearing in it's entirety, on this evening's show. I think you're all gonna dig it! After that, I've got a feature put together, consisting of bands who all got their names, from other bands' song and/or album titles: (i.e. - Overkill, Machine Head, Last In Line and several more). A few of them, I was not previously aware of. I've got several more things, on tap, and ready to go, for tonight's show. Provided, as always, that I have time to get to them. ~ TONIGHT, IT'S THE APRIL EPISODE OF, "ASS-KICKER OF THE YEAR"! ~
Greetings, Metalheads! It's Kevin Smith checking in with you, on this final, "Tear-It-Up-Tuesday" of April. As of a few months ago, the final show of the month, is now the night we'll be doing the "Ass-Kicker Of The Year" feature. Now, just what the hell is that?...you might ask. Well, it's very simple. It has to be, since I'm no good at that "high concept" stuff. 😄 We'll be starting with the year 1976. A whole fifty years ago. When Metal was just a toddler! We will then play one, and only one, ass-kicking song, from that year. Afterwhich we will move on, immediately, to the following year, and repeat the process, of one specially-selected "Ass-Kicker" from each year. We'll be moving up, one year at a time, one song at a time, until we get to this year, 2026. An entire half-century of heavy duty Hard Rock and Metal, will be covered, with this feature. And because of the extremely positive response I've gotten from you, the listeners, I've decided to make "Ass-Kicker Of The Year" a regular thing, for the final show of the month. ~ HEY, ON "TEAR-IT-UP-TUESDAY" TONIGHT, IT'S STILL 4/20! ~
What's happening, Metalheads? It's Kevin Smith, here. I'm anxious to "spark up a few" with youz guyz, tonight, on our Great Nation's Heaviest Station, REBEL RADIO! I'll be cranking the wattage, directly to your cottage, from 7:00 PM, until Midnight (Chicago Time). Ok, yes I know that on the calendar, yesterday was actually 4/20; the holiest day of obligation, for cannabis users, everywhere. But I'm going to go ahead and continue it, for this "Tear-It-Up-Tuesday". After all, it only comes once a year, right? So, for tonight's extended, main feature, I have procured a list, posted by a major Metal publication, of STONER METAL BANDS! 🤘🥴 The list was so long, I didn't even use them all! But there are definitely a few names on there, that we all know, well. A few surprises, too (Like, Black Sabbath is considered a "Stoner Band"??...I never knew!) And whether you're a fan of, "The Sticky Icky", or not, the tunes are going to crank, either way! So, you won't have to be a smoker, to enjoy what you're going to hear! Just trust your DJ 😉. There are a couple-more 4/20 themed features planned, as well. And time permitting, some new releases. So by all means, freshen up the b**g water, put a new screen in your pipe, twist a few up, or chew up those gummies, and join me tonight, for the show! Enjoy!
