🚨 We need your voice! Crucial BOCC Meeting on June 11th (Next Week!)

Our community is facing a major development proposal that could significantly impact our infrastructure, traffic and rural character. We need a strong turnout to ensure the Board of County Commissioners hears us loud and clear.

The Proposal:

Location: Dorman Road & Lithia Pinecrest

Scope: 280 new homes

Impact: Increased traffic congestion and additional strain on our already taxed infrastructure; potential installation of a roundabout on Lithia Pinecrest, loss of rural character, more urban sprawl

How You Can Help:

Show Up: We need a packed room! Please plan to attend the meeting next Thursday, June 11th. (Adding your voice as a speaker is even more impactful).

Good Morning Neighbors!

We have had several people reach out to us this week to let us know they would like to speak at the June 11th meeting regarding the Dorman Road Development. We are so grateful!

We have learned this year the biggest impact we can have at these meetings is to have a united group with speakers. Please if you are concerned about traffic, your quality of life, rural character, etc. please consider coming to the meeting on June 11th and also consider doing a speech. Just being there without speaking even makes an impact.

We will have a zoom meeting tomorrow, May 31st at 7pm.

We will host an in person meeting Sunday, June 7th at 5pm to prepare speeches for the June 11th meeting.

Thank you to our community. We've seen success so far with our efforts let's keep moving forward!

Everyone remembers the controversial University Energy Park in Dover? Thousands of acres ready for development on state road 60.

It was recently listed for sale and tell me why it's being marketed as a good spot for a hyperscale data center? It's being marketed for other industrial uses as well so a hyperscale data center is only a possibility.

Something to keep an eye on...

I know there are data centers in Hillsborough County already but I don't think we need a hyperscale one here, what do you all think? 🤔

We have a lot of meetings upcoming in June regarding the future of Lithia

Community Meeting to prepare speeches for June 11th Meeting. We need as many speakers as we can for this meeting!!!

➡️ June 11th 6pm 601 E Kennedy Blvd Tampa, Fl

Dorman Road Development. CPA 26-05&06

This is the request to expand the urban service area and change the future land use of the property to allow 280 homes.

This will be in front of the BOCC and they will either deny or approve to transmit the applications to the state. If transmitted to the state there will be future meetings in front of the BOCC for this topic

This meeting is in regards to changing the zoning of the land to allow for development (in Tevalo Hills case more homes).

This is in front of the Zoning Hearing Master. They will listen to the facts and then provide a decision at a future date. That decision will then go to the BOCC at a future meeting.

📅Please make sure you mark your calendars for these meetings but also remember they are subject to change if the applicants choose (it'll probably happen).

🌍 We're Teaming Up!

We’re excited to announce that we are joining forces with PlantCity Trash Bash for a roadway cleanup on June 13th! As neighboring communities, it felt natural to partner up to support the amazing work they do to keep our area beautiful.

Why It Matters
Cleanups protect our environment and local livestock. Rural lands are vital, and keeping them free of debris is essential. Fun fact: Some farmers often use magnets in their cattle’s stomachs to safely collect metal objects accidentally ingested from the field, preventing "Hardware Disease."

On Saturday, June 13th, Plant City Trash Bash will be joining forces with Preserve Rural Lithia for a roadway cleanup.

This is what community action looks like — local people stepping up, coming together, and taking care of the places we call home.

Plant City Trash Bash was built on the idea that we don’t have to wait around for someone else to care. Preserve Rural Lithia has been fighting to protect the rural character and beauty of their community. Now, our two grassroots efforts are coming together to make a visible impact.

The cleanup location will be announced soon.

If you believe in cleaner roads, stronger communities, and people actually showing up instead of just talking about it, we’d love to have you with us.
