🎙️ Music professor, author, and DJ The Amani Experience just gave us his Top 5 Slow Jams on Queue Points — and honestly, this list is hard to argue with.

Between the Sheets – Isley Brothers (the only group in history with hits in six straight decades)

Can You Stand the Rain – New Edition

Dear Lover – Teena Marie

You Got It Bad – Usher

Weak – SWV

These aren't just songs — they're emotional landmarks. The kind of music that taught a generation how to feel things out loud.

What slow jam would YOU add to this list? Or does something need to come off? Sound off in the comments — we want to hear your Top 5. 👇

Full conversation with Amani Roberts is linked below. He breaks down R&B history, the Quiet Storm era, and what we lost when corporate radio took over.

🎙️ "I visited Atlanta for the first time in 1997 — and I didn't recognize a single artist on the radio."

Queue Points co-host Jay Ray shares the moment he realized how powerful LOCAL radio really was — and what it felt like to come back years later and find it completely gone.

Before corporate consolidation took over, every city had its own sound. Atlanta had artists Philly never heard of. Philly had artists Atlanta never knew. That was the beauty of it.

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 changed all of that. And if you grew up listening to R&B in the 90s, you felt that shift — even if you didn't know why.
