Shekinah Glory Tabernacle Praise and Worship Center is a non-denomination church located in Decatur, Georgia under the Leadership of the Holy Spirit and Pastorship of Apostle Dr. Gregory and Dr. Glenda Sherman. The Ministry was founded and birthed out on Wednesday October 2, 2002 at Columbia High School in Decatur, Georgia. On Sunday, October 6, 2002 Shekinah Glory Tabernacle held its first Sunday Morning Service at Mary Mc Cloud Bethune Middle School in Decatur, Georgia. Approx. 176 members were present to help birth out the church that Sunday.
Four weeks from birthing out the ministry, Apostle Sherman announced to the congregation that God had shown us favor in allowing us to lease the 15,000 sq. ft. furniture warehouse building located at our present location 6087 Covington Highway in Decatur, Georgia. However there was much work to be done, God gave the people a mind to work (Nehemiah 4:6).
During the next 6 months of Renovating the sanctuary God showed us favor in every are imaginable related to every need; we were blessed Office Furniture, Sanctuary Carpet, 300 chairs for the Sanctuary, The Marque Street Sign, Letters for the Building, sound Equipment, and the Church Podium. Many of these items were purchased by way of “Seed Money” sown by members and donations.
April 2002, early Sunday morning around 2:00am the men were finalizing the sanctuary in preparation for the 1st Easter Service to be held that Sunday morning, placing the podium (the last piece of furniture to be put in place) in the pulpit, the entire building shook! Apostle and all the men present stopped working and started praising God acknowledging the Manifested Presence of GOD! This moment solidified the name God Himself gave Apostle Sherman for our church “Shekinah Glory” which means the manifested presence of GOD! On that Sunday Easter morning, God blessed us to march into our newly renovated Sanctuary. The entire congregation experienced the power and presence of God in a glorious was as we entered the sanctuary- the GLORY OF THE LORD filled the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34) just as the Lord told Apostle Sherman it would when He gave him the vision for the ministry!
