A special thank you to the members of the Lititz Fire Company No. 1and Warwick Emergency Services Commission - WESC for their quick response on the night of July 4th to an automatic fire alarm at Warwick Community Ambulance Association

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke in the building . It was later determined that when the power was lost During the Storms the building’s generator overheated because its ventilation system failed to open properly.

As some of you know, Warwick Community Ambulance has been my second home for nearly 14 years. During that time, I’ve seen a lot of changes, but one thing has always remained the same—when help is needed, the men and women of the fire service are there.

These departments are made up of dedicated volunteers who don’t hesitate to leave their families or get out of bed at 2:00 a.m. to answer a call, whether it’s a fire, an alarm activation, or simply helping EMS carry a patient from a home.

All of us at DJM News Media would like to extend our sincere thanks to every department that responded that night, as well as to all of the volunteer firefighters who selflessly serve their communities every single day. Your dedication and commitment do not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate everything you do.

Yesterday morning, I took a hike along Lambs Gap Road outside of Marysville in Perry County to see if I could find any evidence of the EF-1 tornado that moved through the area Sunday night.

My daughter and I had been in Enola to watch Big Boy depart (that’s the next video I’m working on), and since we were already nearby, I decided to do a little storm damage investigation.

After reviewing radar data from that evening and comparing it to what we found on the ground, we came across an area that appears to be part of the tornado’s path. There were multiple large trees down, many of them lying in different directions. Several standing trees also had their lower limbs stripped away on one side, which can sometimes be an indicator of tornadic winds.

We’re talking about a heavily wooded area, and some of the damage could very well be from previous storms. Still, it was interesting to see what may be remnants of Sunday’s tornado

This photograph was captured at 7:15 pm on Sunday evening, facing towards Perry County from Front Street in Harrisburg. The National Weather Service office in State College has confirmed an EF1 tornado in the area of Lambs Gap Road on the Perry County side of the mountain. The wall cloud is visible in the center of the photo and corresponds to the approximate location of the tornado.

Severe storms disrupted one of America’s oldest Independence Day traditions.

This year marked the 209th Fourth of July celebration in Lititz. Around 7:30 p.m., severe thunderstorms moved through the area, bringing strong wind gusts that blew multiple bankets around and heavy rain that quickly flooded parts of Lititz Springs Park.

As the threat of additional storms continued, organizers made the difficult decision to cancel the evening’s fireworks display to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance.

Happy Independence Day everyone. Last Thursday we hauled ourselves to Mohrsville PA to lay eyes on The Big Boy 4014. Due to my work schedule this was literally my only shot to see it.

Please be safe tonight and let's all wake up tomorrow with all our limbs intact.

With the heat wave beginning in our area, I wanted to do a little experiment.

This afternoon around 12:30, after driving with the air conditioning on, my car’s interior was a comfortable 77°F. I placed my Bluetooth cooking thermometer inside, rolled up all the windows, shut the car off, and kept it going for a total of one hour.

In just 5 minutes, the temperature shot from 77°F to 109°F—and this was on a partly cloudy day. After a full hour, it reached a staggering 119°F inside the car.

Let that sink in.

This is exactly why it’s so crucial never to leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even if you think you’ll only be gone for a few minutes. Please stay safe during this heat wave. Check on your family, friends, neighbors, and pets, stay hydrated, and do everything you can to stay cool

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 1700 block of State Street in Harrisburg for a reported building fire. First-arriving fire units advised they had fire showing from the first floor of a three-story duplex with reports of people still inside the residence.

Firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire and successfully removed all residents from the building. One injury was reported as crews continued operations on scene. Fire units remained at the incident conducting overhaul and checking for extension throughout the structure.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire investigators arrived on scene as crews continued cleanup operations.
