While many of us gather around warm tables this Thanksgiving, there are brave men and women spending the holiday far from home, doing the work that keeps the rest of us safe. Their meals may be simple, their surroundings may be harsh, but their courage speaks louder than any celebration we could imagine.
These moments — eating in uniform, staying alert, carrying duty on their shoulders — remind us that freedom is never free. Every service member who spends Thanksgiving on the front lines gives up time with family, comfort, and rest so others can have theirs. That sacrifice deserves more gratitude than words can ever hold.
For those who stand guard in distant places, Thanksgiving isn’t about the food on the plate but the purpose in their hearts. Their strength, their loyalty, and their unwavering commitment make them the quiet heroes of this season and every season.
So today, we honor them with deep respect and heartfelt thanks. May they feel the warmth of our appreciation, may they stay safe, and may the love of those waiting at home reach them wherever they are. This Thanksgiving, we are truly grateful for them.
