This great video show how a simple expedient would packing could absolutely save a life.

Are you packing wounds?

Are the EDs freaking out if/when you do?

Are you training your operators to pack wounds?

“GSW with injury to femoral vessels. Vein injuries can bleed. And A LOT! Great example of why works. 1⃣Apply pressure 2⃣Pack wound & press 3⃣Apply tourniquet In this case, a well-educated finger. https://t.co/...

1,000 % humidity and 100 degree weather. Heat emergencies are a real concern in and out of the tactics environment. Here’s an interesting article on what it means to all pre-hospital providers. What are some tips and tricks you have for keeping yourself safe and for treating others?

Learn how to differentiate heat exhaustion from heat stroke. And how to assess and manage these two life-threatening hyperthermia emergencies

Happy Friday to all you tac junkies. Today let’s talk about a cause of preventable mortality in the tactical care environment. Tension Pneumothorax is an often untreated cause of combatant death and prevalent in the civilian environment as well. Here’s a great video from our friends at deployedmedicine.com.

What are your thoughts on needle thoracostomy? Why do you think so many medics are hesitant to perform this potentially life saving procedure.

I highly encourage everyone to check out the deployed medicine website. It’s a wealth of knowledge for prehospital providers.

With weather creating medical crises across the southeastern United States let’s talk about EMS’s role in the response especially when traditional medical facilities are affected. This includes prehospital medicine, safety, security, and a whole new set of roles for EMS.

What are your experiences? What thoughts do you have?

Alright all you Tac Med junkies; tell me about your ideal IFAK package. What do you carry, how many, and for what reason?

Remember the IFAK is the tool box meant to be used on the individual operator, but not necessarily by that operator. Also this needs to be mounted to your kit somewhere easy to access by anyone in the heat of the moment and should not interfere with your ability to “complete the mission.” Size, weight, and location matter.
