Ended Black History Month on a high note & with a full-circle moment. Thank you to the Hot Springs Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Iota Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for sponsoring such a powerful Black History program on the campus of Henderson State University.

Years ago, I walked through Garrison Hall as a freshman, full of dreams and possibility. Tonight, I stood in that same space serving as emcee, lifting up the legacy, resilience, and power of our ancestors.

The program was phenomenal. Purpose-filled. Powerful. A beautiful reminder that when we honor our history, we strengthen our future. 💋🎙️

Thank you to the 38th Annual African American History Celebration Parade for such a beautiful experience! The City of Shreveport owes me nothing, and I am truly honored to be named an Arkansas Trailblazer. The hospitality, the love, and the welcome were unmatched, I made so many meaningful connections.

What a way to kick off Black History Month by making history. 🖤❤️💚

Huge thank you to former State Representative Barbara Norton and her incredible staff for curating such a powerful celebration. And special love to Chef Ernest for opening Ernest’s Orleans Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge to us…everything was Chef’s kiss 👌🏽

I even snapped a few pics with my Sisters from the Mansfield and Shreveport Branches of NAUW, and ran into Sorors on their way to the Mardi Gras Ball.

Fifty years ago, Black History Month became a national observance, evolving from Negro History Week, founded in 1926 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson. Today, I stand honored, humbled, and deeply grateful to be named a Trailblazer Honoree for the largest African American History Celebration Parade in the country, with nearly 150,000 expected in attendance.

I’m just a girl from Arkansas who was given an opportunity, and chose to walk through the door. I believe deeply in making space, creating access, and turning opportunity into impact. I don’t take this moment lightly, I am Black history in motion, standing on the shoulders of those who paved the way so I could walk boldly in my purpose.

Thank you former State Representative Barbara Norton and your elite team for curating such a powerful and meaningful celebration. A heartfelt salute to my fellow honorees representing excellence across the country, from Arkansas, Louisiana, Kansas, New York, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Oregon, and beyond.

We honor our roots. We stand in our power. We move the legacy forward. Happy Black History Month ❤️🖤💚
