Where can you ease up on stress and increase the joy in your life?

✨ What's Been Helping Me ✨

1️⃣ Planning longer transitions.

As a recovering overachiever, I tend to overestimate what I can accomplish in a set period of time.

This leads me to leave the house in a rush because I thought I could fit in one more task.

Now I give myself extra commuting time and make sure I have everything ready for where I'm going before tackling the "would like to do's" such as washing dishes and putting laundry away.

2️⃣ Roller skate after Pilates.

I love roller skating, but I also love being a hermit. When I'm home, it can be hard to motivate myself to leave.

My Wednesday Pilates class at Studium Fitness ends at 10 a.m., and there's no classes until the evening, so I bring my skates and get rolling.

It ensures I'm fitting in that burst of joy weekly.

In winter I typically do the opposite and ice skate before class so I can have the rink to myself - and warm up with movement after!

3️⃣ Starting my morning on the couch.

Twice a week I'm up early for a 6:45 a.m. class at Studium.

Because I'm up earlier than usual, I'm too tired to dive into housework, which is what I usually do on non-early days.

So I'll lay on the couch for 20 minutes while oil pulling and be present. I suppose you could call this meditation, but I'm pretty informal about it.

The house is quiet, the sun is ever so slowly rising, and I feel such peace.

My Oura ring fitness tracker typically reveals that I'm in a restorative state during this time.

I feel such a difference starting my day this way, and am hoping to add the practice to other days of the week.

I'm joining Meg of Restorative Health Therapies, LLC on her Mind Body Soul Show. We'll be discussing manifesting.

We're always manifesting, whether we're conscious of it or not. Everything that's happening in our lives right now is the result of our past thoughts and feelings. By understanding the principles of manifesting, you'll be able to shift from living a life on default to a life by design.

Downshifting isn’t stalling.

It actually gives you greater momentum to power towards what you want.

Have you shifted a car? Try going up a hill in fifth gear. Your engine will sputter and potentially stall, meaning you have to restart the car to keep going.

Going upwards in second or third gear, however, gives you the steady power you need to make it to the top.

Fifth gear is great for cruising down the highway at high speed, but not so great when a hill comes along on a back road. Plus, you miss a lot along the way.

It’s the same in life.

Going fast is unsustainable, and we lose the presence that allows us to fully enjoy our lives.

And joy guides us to purpose.

I believe that downshifting from the hustle and living a slow, simple life that’s full of joy is what we came here to do.

Knowledge is the antidote to fear.

Too many of us are afraid of the unknown. It’s paralyzing. But in many instances, we can make the unknown known.
Do your research, then go from there.

I’ve spoken with many aspiring business owners who feel much less overwhelmed when they find out the information they were afraid of knowing.

It’s often not as scary as they expected it to be. The same goes for any leap you’re afraid of taking in life. You can’t set a plan until you make the unknown known.

Remember: “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”- Antoine de Saint-Exupery

While your plan may feel overwhelming, you just have to start with the first step. Focus there.

Don’t be afraid to practice in public.

While research and planning is important, it can be easy to stay stuck in this phase.

The most effective way to learn is by doing, and doing is what brings progress. Mistakes don’t have to be a big deal, and others will be inspired by your journey.
