Star Trek TNG s02e07 - Unnatural Selection

The USS Lantree issues a distress call and by the time the Enterprise reaches them, they are all dead of old age.

Turns out their last stop at the Darwin Station resulted in a flu virus being mutated by genetically engineered children.

The problem is that this is a Federation research station and according to Federation law, genetic manipulation was banned long ago because of the Eugenics war (as we are reminded in Wrath of Kahn and in several other episodes, movies and in both older and newer shows like the original series and the newer series Picard.

How then are they getting away with breaking this law? Did the writers screw up?

I have started creating some videos mostly just to practice editing. This is the 2nd one so far and though it is pretty rudimentary by professional standards, it is a marked improvement over the first video. It is unscripted and only 11 minutes long.

The audio is separate from the 2 video tracks so the hardest part is syncing them together.

Let me know what you think (if you are going to be critical, at least be tactful lol)

Escape from New York the movie was a hit... Dungeons and Dragons was a hit... So of course they figured this would be too.

Got Netflix?

This trailer looks awesome... It's going straight to streaming when it probably could have done well in theaters.

an Independence Day gift I suppose.

It's Netflix's push to stay relevant amidst the streaming wars.

I'll watch it. I'm betting it's pretty good. The winners of a streaming war are always the people who get to watch the movies lol

So far, on top is YouTube... by far.

But, a surprising second is Tubi with a lot of content all free on the ad based platform and so far the ads aren't ridiculous.

But, of course Netflix is still in the fight with their higher budget original movies like this one. They have plans to make a lot of sequels and remakes of many a movie they thought did well... and there is quite a line up from what I can tell.
