Our kids are struggling, and staying silent doesn’t protect them. 💔

Today is PANS/PANDAS Awareness Day, but for me, as a mom of a child with PANS and as an occupational therapist who has worked with children with psychiatric and neurodevelopmental challenges for years, it’s about seeing the bigger picture: our children are facing a wide spectrum of chronic and neuroimmune conditions.

As parents, we’re often told to simply “accept” and “support,” and yet those of us who question, investigate, and fight to protect our children are often misunderstood. What many don’t realize is that speaking up isn’t blame. It isn’t rejection. It’s love - love for children struggling with real, chronic neurological and immune-related illnesses, including autism, PANS/PANDAS, ADHD, and more, that too often go unrecognized or untreated.

Our kids deserve adults who see the full picture, refuse to stay silent, and demand answers, because ignoring the reality doesn’t protect them.

I haven’t shared this on Facebook that much (only on IG), but I’ve been learning a lot about how a child’s jaw development affects their teeth, breathing, sleep, and even behavior.

Spring is just around the corner, and we’re back out in nature, hiking once again. Life is good. Today, I discovered my favorite hike in all of Rhode Island! It had everything—elevation changes, rocky scrambles, and breathtaking views. A rare gem in this little beach state. ❤️
