A dead woman’s body was discovered in a wooded area adjacent to Walnut Street in Livingston by a Cedar Hill Country Club worker on Tuesday, Oct. 7, authorities said.
Livingston Police Chief Gary Marshuetz and Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II announced they are investigating the cause and manner of death, pending results of an autopsy. The identity of the deceased individual has not been confirmed, authorities said.
This investigation is active and ongoing, and additional information will be released when it becomes available, according to the Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities have requested that anyone with information regarding this case contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Tips Line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432. All calls will remain confidential.

FORTY YEARS AGO: The Landmark team took the playoff championship of the Recreation Department’s Women’s Softball League. Team members included, front, Cathy Cooney, Fran Weiss, Mitzi McLean, Helaine Hirschhorn, Sue Halter and Fran Mitter; and rear, Judi Cipolina, Linda Entwistle, Lori Entwistle, Karin Diveay, Roe Maulbeck and Mary Jo McHugh.
