Today I found out that this artist had died recently. Well, 2019. Once you pass 50 a couple of years is recent. This is the first song of his I ever heard. I liked it so much I wanted to record it. I found his number and asked if I could. He said yes and was kind of happy that I expressed interest. This was in 1995. I have yet to record it. He was 50 when he committed su***de. Before that he released 11 albums. An amazing songwriter that was known more for being a member of Ryan Adams’ cardinals. I think it could (should) have been the other way around . His music lives on and is more powerful now. I have alway felt at home with songwriters who straddled melancholy and joy simultaneously. When I feel meloncholy I feel closer to God. That’s weird I know.
Listen and seek out his music. You will be richer for it.
