In honor of Columbus Day, we think a fun fact is in order!

The first cattle in the Americas were brought to the Caribbean island of Hispaniola, from the Canary Islands, by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage across the Atlantic, and Spanish colonists continued to import cattle until approximately 1512. ⚓

Engine 260 passed its annual "Stress Test" today!
Our well-trained personnel and equipment are kept up to the highest standards to keep our ESD #5 Fire District protected for all emergencies! The fire department engine pump test certification involves a formal evaluation that verifies a fire pump operates as designed and delivers its rated capacity, ensuring safe and effective performance. These tests, done by trained independent personnel, include pumping, overload, pressure control, priming, vacuum, and tank-to-pump flow tests. Successful completion results in certification of its reliability for fire operations.
In the photo, you can see the equipment and hoses used to perform this extensive testing.
