The Resilient Mother Podcast

Mothers were never meant to do this alone.

In this week’s episode of The Resilient Mother Podcast, Tiffany Lorraine Galloway is joined by Jiemi Gao, founder of Nori, for a powerful conversation on Resilient Identity: Creating the Support Mothers Need.

Together, they explore how motherhood reshapes identity, why so many moms feel overwhelmed by advice and comparison, and how real human connection can help mothers trust themselves again.

Jiemi shares the heart behind Nori, a support network designed to help mothers connect through mentorship, community conversations, and shared lived experience.
What began as a mom mentorship platform has grown into a space where mothers can find support, offer wisdom, and remember they are not alone.

This episode also explores the pressure mothers feel to “get it right,” the loneliness many moms experience, the impact of technology and social media, and why building community is one of the most powerful acts of resilience.
Because resilient mothers are not built in isolation.

They are strengthened through connection, honest conversation, support, and the courage to create the village they wish they had.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:
• How motherhood changes identity
• Why moms need more than expert advice and online information
• The importance of mentorship and peer support
• Learning to trust yourself as a mother
• The pressure of perfectionism in motherhood
• Creating community when you feel isolated
• Why support is not a luxury for mothers
• How mothers can both receive support and offer it
• The heart behind Nori and Jiemi’s mission to support moms

GUEST BIO:
Jiemi Gao is the founder of Nori, a support network created to help mothers connect through mentorship, small group discussions, and meaningful community. As a mother of two, Jiemi began building Nori from her own experience of needing more support in motherhood, especially after becoming one of the first in her friend circle to have children and navigating early motherhood during the COVID years.
Through Nori, Jiemi is creating a space where mothers can find encouragement, share lived experience, and support one another through every stage of motherhood.

Mothers were never meant to do this alone. 💙
This week on The Resilient Mother Podcast, I’m joined by Jiemi Gao for a beautiful conversation on Resilient Identity: Creating the Support Mothers Need.

We talk about motherhood, identity, mentorship, trusting yourself, and why moms need more than endless advice, expert opinions, and social media comparison.

Sometimes what we really need is a safe place to say:

“I’m struggling.”
“Has anyone else been through this?”
“I need support, but I also have something to give.”

Jiemi is creating that kind of space through Nori, a support network helping mothers connect through mentorship, conversation, and community.

Because the truth is, resilient mothers are not built in isolation.
We are strengthened through connection, support, wisdom, and the courage to reach for each other again.

I could have fainted when Forbes Riley said YES to coming on The Resilient Mother Podcast.

Her new book is already flying off the shelves, and I haven’t even been able to get my own copy yet — which feels very fitting because Forbes has always been someone who moves fast, leads boldly, and leaves an impact.

But this is more than just an exciting guest announcement for me.

I have a very distinct memory of connecting with Forbes during a transitional season in my life. In a moment when I felt unseen by so many, she gave me her full presence. She asked. She listened. She saw me.

And honestly? That moment became part of the foundation of what would later become *The Resilient Mother.*

Sometimes people don’t realize how powerful it is to truly see someone in the middle of their becoming.

Forbes Riley is a powerhouse, a resilient mother, a visionary, and a woman who has built a life of courage, creativity, reinvention, and impact.

I am deeply honored to welcome her as an upcoming special guest on *The Resilient Mother Podcast.*

This one is going to be special.

You are not broken. You are becoming.

In this powerful episode of The Resilient Mother Podcast, I sit down with Maz Alexander, a mental health and well-being coach, author, speaker, and social worker, for a beautiful conversation around resilient identity — who we are beyond motherhood, survival mode, trauma, burnout, titles, and the stories we’ve carried for far too long.

Maz shares such a grounded and compassionate perspective on resilience, reminding us that healing is not always about “bouncing back.” Sometimes resilience means becoming someone new, wiser, stronger, and more whole.

We talk about motherhood, mental health, self-worth, generational patterns, caregiving, burnout, asking for support, and the Japanese art of kintsugi — where broken pottery is repaired with gold.

The broken places do not erase our value.
They can become part of the masterpiece.

If you have ever felt like you lost yourself in motherhood, survival, caregiving, or trying to hold everything together, this episode is for you.

Absolutely — here’s a copy-paste caption for this month’s theme:

Who are you when life strips away the titles, the roles, the expectations, and the survival mode?

This June on The Resilient Mother Podcast, our theme is Identity — because so many mothers are not just tired… they are quietly wondering:

Where did I go?
Who am I now?
How do I rebuild after everything I’ve carried?

This month, we are talking about the kind of identity that is not built on perfection, performance, relationship status, motherhood guilt, or what the world says you “should” be.

We are coming back to the truth.

You are not just what happened to you.
You are not just who needed you.
You are not just the version of yourself who had to survive.

You are still becoming.
You are still worthy.
You are still resilient.
And there is still a whole beautiful chapter of you waiting to rise.

Join us this month as we explore Resilient Identity — who we are, who we are becoming, and how to stop abandoning ourselves in the process.

What if the resilience that once helped you survive is now quietly turning into resentment?

In this episode of The Resilient Mother Podcast, I’m joined by Philippa Scott of Fantastic Futures for a deeply honest and meaningful conversation about motherhood, burnout, identity, nervous system regulation, trauma-informed parenting, and the kind of support mothers truly need.

We talk about the difference between being resilient in a hard season and living in survival mode as a permanent identity.

Because so many mothers have been praised for being strong, capable, dependable, and able to “handle it all” — but behind that strength, many are exhausted, overstimulated, lonely, and carrying more than they were ever meant to carry alone.

Philippa shares from her experience as a mother, grandmother, birth worker, trauma-informed practitioner, and guide for parents who are learning to heal old patterns while building healthier relationships with themselves and their children.

In this conversation, we explore:

How resilience can become unhealthy when we never get to come back to calm

Why mothers need safe connection, support, and community

How nervous system regulation impacts parenting, burnout, and emotional capacity

The identity shift many mothers experience when they realize their value does not come only from what they do for everyone else

Why finding your tribe matters, especially in seasons of isolation

How mothers can begin taking the next move toward healing, support, and peace

This episode is for the mother who has been strong for a very long time.

The one who keeps showing up.

The one who is tired of carrying everything alone.

The one who knows she does not want to stay resentful, overwhelmed, or disconnected — but may not know what to do next.

Maybe your next move is not pushing harder.

Maybe your next move is learning how to exhale.

Maybe your next move is finding support, reconnecting with your own needs, and remembering that resilience was never meant to replace rest, connection, or healing.

Watch this conversation, listen to the full episode, and share it with a mother who needs the reminder that support is not weakness.
