I have wanted to say this so many times since I made the decision, but never felt like it was the right time.

But with my start date in just a week from now it feels like it’s finally time to spill the beans 🫘

I’m going back to school to become a veterinarian!
Particularly with a focus in equine podiatry and sports medicine… a lot along the lines of what I do already, just with more education, more tools, and diagnostics!

What this looks like for my business:

I’ll be chugging along as normally as possible with clients. I’ve been rearranging my schedule to be very small and tight in order to make room for classes and also keeping my clients taken care of 😄

I have a long road ahead of me until I’m a DVM, but I look forward to continuing to serve horses and people in my current capacity until then 🥰

There was a time when I said I’d never nail shoes to a horse’s feet… so why am I learning to now?

Because going barefoot, boots, shoes, are all just TOOLS to help our horses feel their best.

And this goes for all of our other tools like bodywork modalities, therapeutic devices, veterinary medicine, tack and equipment, training methods…

There’s no ‘one size fits all’ in any area of horses. What works for one might not work for another!

The more tools I have to support horses, the better equipped I feel to help serve them 🫶🏼

In this horse’s case, he needed more support to help encourage sole depth and ease arthritic joints. And nailing composites happened to be the tool we’re trying out next along his journey 💗🙌🏼

Spinal alignment is the key! Investing in it will be investing in the health of your whole horse!

This is exactly why as a hoofcare provider I offer bodywork as a part of my care program.

I didn’t even have to trim this horse and she was standing more square after our session- not to mention the fact that she won’t be leaning over the right front anymore making it harder for her to pick it up due to all the weight being over that leg. 👏🏼

It might look like I’m not doing much during a CST session, since I’m not the one doing the work- the horse is 👏🏼

During a session, I am using my intention to guide the horse’s body to access their own inherent healing capacity.

Every body has the ability to heal and rebalance when given the proper conditions. CST helps tip the scale and bring the body to equilibrium with light, grounded, and focused touch ⚖️

I finally like my hair length… but can’t seem to get the same style more than once 🤣💀

Still a thousand times better than having long hair in the summer though! It makes trimming while I’m sweating buckets much less of a sensory nightmare 🤣

I spend a lot of time just watching my horses stand.

In fact, observation is THE most important part of my work.

A horse’s relationship with the ground is SO important to their comfort and soundness. In fact, it’s crucial to a healthy body and nervous system.

Be it hoofcare, bodywork, or even animal communication sessions (Yes, they do in fact show me how they’ve been standing when I do a body scan! 👏🏼)

Their relationship with gravity tells a story. Posture is the roadmap of the journey 😄

I 💗 making horses feel better!

It’s why I offer my “Factory Reset” sessions that combine bodywork and hoofcare to help rebalance the whole horse.

I always joke that it looks like they’ve gained 100 lbs when they get CST. In reality, we’re releasing chronic tension and holding patterns in the fascia that compress down the muscle tissue, that can finally expand and relax once the tension is gone 👏🏼

Sessions were 4 weeks apart approximately.

There’s no one area that ISN’T affected when your horse is lame.

It’s a chicken and egg cycle that begins a LONG TIME before your horse ever takes a lame step!

That’s why it’s so crucial to look at and care for the whole horse.

The BODY.
The TEETH.
And the FEET.

The environments those exist in (internal and external) have a huge impact on the horse as well. Think diet, workload, tack fit, where and how your horse spends their days. It’s ALL important when it comes to approaching lameness 👏🏼
