If being seen online scares you, I need you to know who’s talking to you. 💖

I’ve built a bakery into Costco, sat across from five investors, closed 80 locations with a BILLION DOLLAR company. None of it scared me the way hitting post on my own face did the first time. I was terrified, like wanted to cry terrified and I did it anyway.

Let’s chat about identity because it feels like such a weird thing haha. I keep thinking about how many versions of me exist, the board meeting one, the bridal hair and makeup one, the one who bred dogs, the one who closed a bakery she built for 6 years. I feel like I’m 36 and lived like 10 lives! I was like ya know what… None of them disappeared…they’re just quieter.
This social media/UGC thing isn’t a new me. It’s an old version of me trying something she hasn’t done yet. I know I’m not the only millennial mom feeling this way haha! How many lives do you feel like you’ve lived? 👇🏻I’m at 5 🤪

HILLS I’LL DIE ON AS A MILLENNIAL MOM WHO BUILT A UGC BUSINESS FROM HER COUCH…

#1. “You don’t have a degree in this, who’s going to pay you?” isn’t the argument people think it is. Brands don’t need a degree. They need someone who can shoot, edit, and sound like a real person talking about their product.

#2. “Isn’t it too late to start?” I didn’t start young. I started tired, with kids under my feet and a phone camera, figuring it out one pitch at a time.

#3. “You need a huge following first.” No you don’t. I got my first paid brand deal with under 100 followers on my other page Brennan | UGC Creator + Photographer in Utah haha. Brands care about the content, not the number.

#4. “Just do it for free exposure.” I didn’t build a licensed business so my work could sit in someone’s camera roll unpaid. Good content is strategy, not a favor! You deserve to get paid. Trying to do social media as a “hobby” is insane lol.

#5. “Moms don’t have time to start a business.” We already run entire households on zero extra time and zero sleep! That’s not a weakness going into this, that’s the exact skill set that makes us good at it.

Before UGC was on my radar, before any of this, I ran a sugar-free, gluten-free bakery and scaled it into a million+ dollar brand. Started from my home doing pickups on my front porch, partnering with investors, opening a retail store, & cafe, I pitched myself straight to the Costco buyer and a ton of other retail leaders, landed the entire Northern California region with over 80 locations, and ran roadshows across the state for a year, still some of the biggest gluten-free snack numbers Costco had ever recorded!

Six years, no degree, 30 retails stores, completely self-taught and running on the support of my family and sheer will power to succeed. I built our affiliate program from zero to 1,000 affiliates myself, over $200,000 a year from that program alone.

UGC isn’t the first thing I’ve built, it’s just the newest one and do you want to know the exciting thing? Building a business isn’t a talent you have or you don’t have. It’s a set of skills and systems you push yourself to learn when you want it more than anything! So many of you have asked “wait, what even IS UGC?”, fair, because nobody explains it in plain English haha. So here goes: UGC is user-generated content. Brands pay you to make short videos of their product, reviews, unboxings, quick how-tos, and THEY run them in their own ads.

The part that surprised me most: you don’t need a big following, because it lives on the BRAND’s page, not yours. It’s not about being an influencer. It’s about making content that makes people want to buy.

That’s why a mom in her kitchen, no glam squad, no studio, can genuinely get paid for this. I did.
