Because of you, we’re hanging in there!

Thanks to hundreds of UPR listeners, we were able to raise $76,192, which exceeded our fall funding goal! We’ll also be sending nearly 500 boxes of cereal to the Utah Food Bank, thanks to your donations and our generous partner Post Consumer Brands. Throughout this drive, you’ve shown us just how powerful community is!

If you missed the drive, you can still make a difference for UPR by donating now. Federal funding is gone for the foreseeable future, which means UPR has a $200,000 deficit every year. Donations can be made at UPR.org

UPR, and all public media, has been defunded by an act of Congress. Despite this significant challenge, we are NOT defeated, and have no intention of disappearing!

This message of “Defunded…Not Defeated” has become our mantra the last few months, so we decided to put it on a hat as a reminder of strength and resilience during this difficult time.

You can have one of these hats by donating $180 or $15/month – that goes a long way in helping to bridge our funding gap and keeping UPR’s community service available to all.

Go to https://donate.nprstations.org/upr/support-upr to donate and claim one for yourself!

A message from UPR and The Salt Lake Tribune’s reporter Clarissa Casper:

“After a little over a year of reporting on northern Utah, it’s time for me to sign off. I’ve been offered a science journalism fellowship with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, where I’ll spend the next year or so telling stories about birds and conservation — something I’ve always dreamed of.

Thank you for sharing your stories, ideas, and hopes for our community with me. It’s been an honor to listen, learn, and report alongside you. Please continue to turn to Utah Public Radio and The Salt Lake Tribune for trusted local news and connection.

This isn’t goodbye forever — just a new chapter. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for listening.”

Federal funding for public media has been eliminated.

Your financial support is needed more than ever, so we’ve launched a 3-day emergency fund drive. Our goal during this short campaign is to raise half of our total 2026 budget deficit, which is $100,000. That may sound like a lot in just 72 hours, but the UPR community is strong, and with your help we can do it!

Fortunately, we have the help of The Norman Savoie Trust and a few anonymous donors who are working together to offer a $50,000 challenge match. You give, they’ll double it. It’s as simple as that! $50,000 in listener contributions, and then $50,000 from this generous match means we’ll reach the goal!
