“It was impossible to take your eyes off her,” wrote Ella Stott about Mia Gatherum’s performance as Aphra Behn in USU’s production of Or,.

USU Theatre brought chaotic comedy and powerful performances to life in Or, a witty, fast-paced play filled with romance, espionage and lightning-fast costume changes.

With just three actors playing seven characters, the show had audiences laughing and gasping from start to finish at the Black Box Theatre.

“We are living in the most dangerous moment in the modern history of this country,” said Senator Bernie Sanders at his Salt Lake City rally.

As part of his Fighting Oligarchy tour, Sanders energized over 20,000 attendees at the Huntsman Center on April 14 with calls for economic justice, political reform and unity.

Joined by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and activist Caroline Gleich, the event highlighted growing concerns about wealth disparity and political influence from billionaires. USU student Mya Karbasi called the experience “empowering” and “full of hope.”

“We’ve got to fundamentally rethink the logic of using a finite resource to produce a container we use once and throw away,” said historian Elmore Bartow at a recent USU lecture.

USU alum and history professor Cody Patton returned to campus April 16 to deliver a thought-provoking lecture on the origins of single-use packaging in America.

Tracing its rise from the 1930s beer industry to today’s $44.5 billion throwaway economy, Patton and fellow historian Bartow challenged students to reflect on the environmental and economic costs of convenience culture.
