We have discovered Billy Preston! It turns out that this amazing keyboardist played on just about every good song that came out in the '70s and early '80s. He played with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and many others. He's one of those artists that created many songs you know and enjoy, but never knew who performed them. Thanks to LISTENER FUNDED WABE (Atlanta's NPR station) and NPR for sharing his story.

John Lennon called keyboardist Billy Preston "the fifth Beatle." But his talents couldn't help him outrun his demons, as told in a new documentary, "Billy Preston: That's the Way God Planned It."

[ Friday Afternoon Update ] An Ice Storm Warning is now in effect for a large portion of north Georgia from Saturday afternoon through Monday morning, where ice accumulations from 0.25" to 1" are expected. Even just a fraction of an inch of ice has major impacts on roadways and makes travel dangerous! Ice accumulations (while less overall) are also expected across the Winter Storm Watch area and will lead to hazardous travel.

"For the first time, the carpet in the state Capitol comes from Georgia. The new carpet featuring yellow flowers on a red background was made in Dalton, known as the carpet capital of the world."

The AJC's politics team foresees plenty of conflict for the legislative session that begins today at the Capitol in Atlanta. It's all a precursor to the midterms.

We'll pay it, and pay it gladly.

Our state Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites are treasures, so paying a little more to take care of them is worth it.

Georgia will boost state park entrance fees in January, and an audit suggests more price hikes could be coming.

Great news for Georgia! We don't need to build on every inch of land. I'm glad that (hopefully) this beautiful area will remain protected.
