Giles Corey Press

Giles Corey Press This is what publishing looks like! Giles Corey Press is a purveyor of fine fiction for the anarchist community.

We create, print, and distribute works that in the mode of the best storytellers pass on history, feed our imagination, and create new myths while deconstructing the old. Our theory of change is that fiction is a collective practice—an exchange of stories, visions, and dreams—that builds community through conversation and empathy. We are three friends hailing from a small town surrounded by a mili

tary base on three sides and a prison on the fourth, with a Walmart in the middle. We are each pursuing our Thing while trying to make it straddle the precarity of late capitalism and our spiritual belief in anarchism.

What’s better than a looking at a poster about how society looks at us looking at it looking at us… We’ve combined Jeremy Bentham’s panopticon, as popularized by Foucault, with Warhol’s je ne sais quoi just so you can find out. 11″ × 17″ on nice glossy stock.

I saw the fantastic author, writer, and overall cranky bastard Warren Ellis speak tonight. His talk touched on drones so, of course, I gave him a Support Our Drones sticker, and he loved it! I didn't take any pictures of the two together, though—I'm not that kind of as***le.

Buy your own Support Our Drones sticker at http://moreweight.net/

Support our brave drones with this 8″×4″ die cut awareness ribbon sticker. Just because warfare is changing, doesn’t mean that our patriotism should waver.

As a kid I loved bed time stories. I particularly remember my father reading me “Tistou and the Green Thumb” which is this fairy tale about a boy who can—à la Midas—make flowers grow anywhere with just a touch of his “green thumb”. He uses his super-power to take on prisons, poverty, and war. It’s pretty rad.

Have a favorite bed time story of your own? Or an idea for one?

When eight-year-old Tistou is sent home from school his parents decide he shall learn from real life instead, and where better to start than gardening? With Moustache the dreamy gardener, Tistou discovers a remarkable gift - that he has green thumbs! Everything he touches sprouts beautiful plants...

Have we shared with y’all this amazing book yet? http://www.amazon.com/We-Sit-Together-Utopian-Separatists/dp/1616891599 It almost makes us want to ditch publishing and take up woodworking. It definitely makes us think about how our shared stuff and practices (like, you know, books and stories) are part of what it is to be a community and all that jazz.

Whether for protest, religious congress, companionship, eating, or comfort, sitting communally remains one of the most powerful and prevalent of human social activities. This simple act held special significance in numerous utopian communities that emerged in nineteenth-century America, and was g...

For the last couple of days I have been not-so-secretly wishing that someone would write a story about a Luddite insurection in a steam-punk world. Anyone want to help me out?
