Lots of childhood memories in Berea, like my aunt Linda driving us around in the Jeep Grand Cherokee eating ice cream cones from McDonald’s and blaring Tears For Fears “Songs from the Big Chair” album. Actually it was a cassette tape which eventually got eaten from being overplayed. We’d go to City Park and launch Estes model rockets or go hike to the Pinnacles overlook. The mountains seemed so big until we moved to Colorado. I think this is why Berea always holds such fond memories for me. My aunt Linda struggled with health issues but never let us know. Time went by and moving west we saw less and less of Linda and my cousins Bill and Amy. Sadly my aunt ended her life. It was devastating on my cousins who had already lost their dad to cancer and survivors will always feel guilt about su***de. We don’t talk about it but it needs to be talked about. There is always a way out. Life is short. Cherish those childhood memories. Chances are they are a big part of who you are today. As soon as I get a listing in Wi******er (my birthplace) I’ll tell you some stories about the trouble my cousin Andrea and I got into. I’ll just say we’re lucky we didn’t get caught lol.
