After the rain, the San Gabriel River is unfortunately filled with trash. A lot of it will continue making its way toward the ocean, while some will get stuck along the river, right where the sea turtles live. 🐢

And what you can see floating on top is only part of it. Heavier trash sinks and becomes much more noticeable during low tide.

There are plenty of local organizations and groups that organize cleanups along the river, so hopefully this reaches the right people and helps get another cleanup going soon. 🙏

UPDATE, September 7, 2026: The woman shot on Long Beach Boulevard this morning has died, turning the investigation into a homicide.

The shooting happened on the 1900 block of Long Beach Boulevard. Police have not released the victim’s identity, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Suspect information has not yet been confirmed by police.
