I am heartbroken by the devastating floods along the Nepal-Tibet border that have taken so many lives, displaced communities, and left families waiting for news of loved ones.

Our hearts are with everyone affected, including members of our Long Beach community with family and loved ones in the region.

This tragedy is also a sobering reminder of the growing human consequences of a changing climate. As extreme conditions create greater risks for vulnerable communities around the world, we cannot lose sight of the people and families at the center of these disasters.

We are grateful to the first responders, rescue crews, and humanitarian organizations working under incredibly difficult conditions to save lives and support those in need.

Long Beach stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal and Tibet during this devastating time.
