I Love the Outer Banks in NC! Most amazing sunrises and sunsets, but the ocean is quickly reclaiming what’s hers! 31 homes have fallen into the ocean since 2020. It is truly heartbreaking to see the damage to the dunes, and the homes that once stood behind them in Rodanthe and Buxton. With the shoreline retreating 13 ft a year in these areas many more homes will fall in the future including the one we stayed in. I am thankful I got to see the Black Pearl which has been condemned since 2023 and is still standing as the homes around her have fallen. It is sad nothing more can be done to save these areas. This place will hold a special place in my heart! ❤️
