I-4 Ultimate Project now nearly 1 year behind schedule and in need of just more than $100 Million (for now). Our CEO sat on a panel with I-4 Ultimate Project (and others which included Orlando Int'l Airport and Lynx) just as construction was to begin, and he spoke to the Express Lanes being separated by the "regular" lanes by concrete barriers...for instance as in Miami where the lanes are separated by plastic poles. Drivers will be paying top dollar to ride the I-4 Express Lanes, and when an incident happens, there will be no way out and quite difficult for Fire Rescue or Police to respond quickly. Our CEO suggested the lanes be separated by plastic poles, but I-4 Ultimate refused the suggestion saying they did not want to pay for plastic pole replacement that will be sometimes be damaged by accident from vehicles hitting them. Having plastic removable poles like in Miami, allows Fire Rescue to get in and out of the Express Lanes fast and allows for drivers to exit the Express Lanes and not be held up. Our CEO's concern for the safety of our drivers and the response times by Fire Rescue and/or Police were the least of I-4 Ultimate's worries. Tele-Traffic will always continue to fight for the drivers of Central Florida for the roadways to remain as safe as possible by calling out any issues that need to be addressed to keep you safe. For instance: Tele-Traffic worked hard on getting EB I-4 approaching Longwood safe, where there were daily crashes with a "zero shoulder" area. After taking to social media and directly to FDOT, things were eventually taken care of. Know your rights driving on Central Florida roads where construction is taking place and if you are ever involved in an incident, it's important to know them if you drive in any areas under construction on or off I-4. Tele-Traffic has installed a traffic camera network along I-4 in the I-4 Ultimate zone that covers 8 miles through Seminole County and parts of Downtown Orlando so our traffic clients that use us for on-air traffic reports has the right information as quickly as possible to pass along to their listeners and Orlando drivers. We continue to put up new cameras along on our network as we continue to deliver the most accurate and dependable traffic information to our media outlets. questions/concerns/media [email protected]
