BURNING MAN WEATHER: STRONG WINDS, DUST & RAIN AHEAD | SHOW US THE BURNER CARS YOU’VE SPOTTED!

BLACK ROCK CITY, Nevada | August 30, 2026

If you’ve been out on Placer County roads lately, there’s a good chance you’ve seen them: campers, trailers, packed-down vehicles and some pretty creative rides making their way toward Burning Man.

Placer County is along a major route for Burners traveling to and from Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, and this week’s weather could make things interesting once they get there.

The big weather story early this week is wind.

Monday should stay sunny and warm, with a high around 86 degrees, but the wind begins picking up. By Tuesday, WeatherBug is forecasting southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph at Black Rock City, with gusts reaching 40 mph during the day and possibly 45 mph Tuesday night.

That could mean a very dusty day on the playa. With almost nothing to stop the wind across the open desert, visibility can go downhill quickly when the dust starts moving.

Wednesday brings a big change in temperature, with a high of only about 71 degrees and breezy conditions continuing.

Then we’ll be watching Thursday and Friday for rain.

WeatherBug currently has showers in the forecast for Thursday during the day and again Thursday night. The chance of showers continues into Friday daytime before conditions are expected to improve Friday night.

It’s too early to know exactly how much rain will actually reach Black Rock City, and this is not a forecast for nonstop rain. But anyone who remembers what rain can do to the playa knows why the forecast is worth keeping an eye on. Once that dry lakebed gets wet, getting around can become a mess pretty quickly.

Monday, Aug. 31: Sunny, 86° / 63°. Winds increasing, gusts up to 30 mph.
Tuesday, Sept. 1: 82° / 53°. Southwest winds 15–25 mph, gusts up to 40 mph and possibly 45 mph Tuesday night.
Wednesday, Sept. 2: Breezy and much cooler, 71° / 53°.
Thursday, Sept. 3: 76° / 53°. Breezy with a chance of showers during the day and at night.
Friday, Sept. 4: 78° / 52°. Breezy with a chance of showers during the day.
Saturday, Sept. 5: Partly cloudy, 79° / 54°.
Sunday, Sept. 6: Mostly sunny, 77° / 55°.

Right now, Tuesday looks like the day to watch for wind and blowing dust, followed by the possibility of wet weather Thursday into Friday. We’ll keep watching the forecast as those days get closer.

LINCOLN 115 MPH PURSUIT ENDS IN CRASH, MANHUNT AND ARREST

LINCOLN, California | August 29, 2026

A high-speed police pursuit through the Lincoln area Friday evening ended in a crash, an extensive multi-agency manhunt and the eventual arrest of a 34-year-old man who was booked early Saturday morning on multiple fresh felony charges.

Placer County jail records identify the suspect as Tisiah Prout, who was booked into the South Placer Jail at approximately 12:25 a.m. Saturday, August 29. The Lincoln Police Department is listed as the arresting agency.

According to law enforcement scanner traffic monitored during the incident, Lincoln police attempted to detain the driver of a vehicle connected to an earlier incident before the driver fled.

The pursuit quickly escalated.

Radio traffic indicated the driver ran stop signs and red lights as officers followed. Speeds were reported at approximately 100 mph on West Wise Road before reaching as high as 115 mph southbound on Gladding Road.

During the pursuit, scanner traffic also indicated another vehicle crashed while taking evasive action to avoid the fleeing vehicle.

The pursued vehicle eventually crashed in the Gladding Road area, ending up at or near the Gladding-McBean plant property . The driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, triggering an extensive multi-agency manhunt involving the Lincoln Police Department, Rocklin Police Department and Placer County Sheriff’s Office. Aerial resources and drones also assisted with the search.

The search eventually focused on the area of H, I and J streets and 7th and 8th streets in Lincoln. Scanner traffic later indicated officers had narrowed the suspect’s location to a garage on H Street, where he was reportedly hiding in the rafters.

After an extended period of commands, officers moved in. The suspect was hiding in the rafters of a garage nearby, at a home that was

Radio traffic indicated officers went hands-on with the suspect at approximately 6:57 p.m., with his detention reported approximately one minute later.

Medical personnel were subsequently requested to evaluate him. Prout was later transported for medical clearance before being booked into the South Placer Jail.

FRESH FELONY CHARGES

The Placer County jail booking record lists two groups of fresh felony charges against Prout.

One group is listed as No Bail and includes:

• VC 2800.4: Evading a peace officer while driving the wrong way
• VC 2800.2(a): Evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety
• PC 12022.1: Committing a felony while on bail
• PC 69(a): Obstructing or resisting an executive officer

The PC 12022.1 allegation indicates Prout is accused of committing a felony while on bail in connection with a prior case.

A second group of fresh felony charges carries $220,000 bail and includes:

• PC 459: First-degree burglary
• PC 182(a)(1): Conspiracy to commit a crime

The booking record lists Prout’s overall custody status as ineligible for bail and shows no expected release date.

🚨 SEARCH INTENSIFIES FOR MISSING MAN IN AUBURN

AUBURN, California | August 23, 2026

A major Search and Rescue operation continues today for 24-year-old Ian Roberts.

🔵 Overlook Park and adjacent trails are closed today for Search and Rescue activity. PCSO is asking the public to stay out of the secured search area.

🔵 Search and Rescue teams from across California are converging on Auburn this morning, bringing specialized personnel, K9s, equipment and other search resources.

🔵 Ian’s vehicle was located at the Auburn Skate Park after it was tracked to the area.

🔵 Saturday’s search included 20 PCSO SAR volunteers, two K9 teams, multiple drones, PCSO’s Falcon 30 helicopter and CHP’s H20 helicopter.

📹 CHECK YOUR CAMERAS: Anyone around the Auburn Skate Park, Overlook Park, American River Canyon trails or surrounding Auburn State Recreation Area is encouraged to review recent footage.
