I’ve really taken some time with batch 2 of the 14yr. You guys know I wasn’t the biggest fan of batch 1. Don’t get me wrong, I thought it was really good but after having a sample I stopped searching for a bottle. For MY palate, it just drank unbalanced and spicier than it needed to.

For ME, Batch 2 is a different story! I think the 117.6 proof suits it perfectly, providing viscosity and that dense sweetness to balance out the oak tannins and spice.

This blend bridges the gap between Kentucky Bourbon and Japanese Whisky; blending a 10 and 16 year bourbon with 5 year Japanese whisky. Single Malt from Komagatake, one of the Japanese components, was aged in Umeshu {Plum Liqueur} barrels while the Tsunuki single malt was aged in Sakura {Cherry Wood}. They rested together in Kentucky for a full 12 months.

Mars may very well be one of the more challenging blends in the Distillery Reserves. As always, Bardstown was up for the task. Coming from someone who loves things outside the traditional lines, I think this is fantastic. π‘Ήπ’Šπ’„π’‰ π‘ͺπ’‚π’“π’‚π’Žπ’†π’, 𝑭𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒍 & π‘¨π’“π’π’Žπ’‚π’•π’Šπ’„, π‘©π’π’‚π’„π’Œπ’ƒπ’†π’“π’“π’Šπ’†π’” & π‘·π’π’–π’Ž, and all the π‘©π’‚π’Œπ’Šπ’π’ˆ π‘Ίπ’‘π’Šπ’„π’†π’”. Another win in the Bardstown lineup!

quint is responsible for bringing these two lovebirds together. It was love at first sight when Pete, a peated malt finished in Amontillado Sherry Butts, laid eyes on Sherri, a 2-row pale malted barley finished in Pedro Ximenez & Oloroso Sherry casks.

This Quintessential Release is a blend of 6 to 9 years old and coming in at 114.4 proof. The marriage of flavors is a heavenly match; π‘©π’“π’π’˜π’ π‘Ίπ’–π’ˆπ’‚π’“, π‘«π’‚π’“π’Œ π‘ͺ𝒉𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆, π‘ͺπ’‰π’†π’“π’“π’š π‘Ίπ’šπ’“π’–π’‘, π‘·π’π’–π’Ž and π‘­π’Šπ’ˆπ’”, with some π‘¬π’‚π’“π’•π’‰π’š notes and π‘©π’π’‚π’„π’Œ 𝑷𝒆𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒓.
