🚨 DRIVER CHARGED WITH MURDER AFTER CRASH INTO METRO BUS KILLS 2

A 36 year old Simi Valley woman has been charged with murder and DUI after allegedly crashing into a Metro bus at a high rate of speed in Chatsworth, killing two people and injuring at least five others.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Bailee Lynn Rios is accused of driving an SUV on the wrong side of the road near Nordhoff Street and De Soto Avenue around 5 p.m. on Sept. 15. Investigators allege she ran a red light and slammed into the in-service Metro bus carrying passengers.

Two people were killed, while at least five others were injured, including two who suffered critical injuries.

Rios was extricated from the SUV by Los Angeles firefighters and arrested at the scene before being transported to a hospital for treatment.

She faces two counts of murder, a felony DUI charge causing injury and a misdemeanor reckless driving charge. Prosecutors are requesting $4.1 million bail.

Rios is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 18 at the San Fernando Courthouse. If convicted as charged, she faces a maximum sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole.

⚠️ The charges are allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

🚨 Arrest Made: Officers responded to a call regarding a robbery after a victim reported that he was sitting in his vehicle when a suspect approached, demanded money, and threatened him with a weapon.

Per APD:

“The victim, who was in Alhambra looking for a potential location to open a restaurant, had approximately $70,000 with him and handed it over out of fear. The suspects quickly drove away, probably thinking they had made their grand escape, but the story didn’t end there.

APD Detectives jumped into action. After some solid investigating and a little patience, they located the suspect in Covina, CA, still rocking the same all-black fit he wore on the day of the robbery. And because no outfit is complete without accessories, his crossbody bag came with a little more than the essentials. The suspect was found with a loaded ghost gun, a stack of fake IDs, and questionable paperwork and cash. A money counter, a luggage case with another all-black outfit, and 4 cellphones were also found inside the vehicle.

Ultimately, Kongli Tang of Covina, CA, was arrested and booked at APD Jail.“

NBC4 & TELEMUNDO 52 HELICOPTER CRASH CLAIMS LIVES OF TWO JOURNALISTS

Per LACDAO:

“The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of those killed in Tuesday evening’s crash of NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s news helicopter.

This is a devastating loss for our entire community. Eliana Moreno and George Marciniw went to work Tuesday to help keep Angelenos informed as they have done for years, and they never came home. We also mourn the loss of the individual on the ground who died as a result of the crash.

We live in a county where so many people put their lives on the line, to keep us safe. Today we honor those journalists who put themselves in harm’s way to ensure we know the true story. Our hearts go out to their families, to the NBC4 and Telemundo 52 newsroom, and to everyone touched by this tragedy.”

Police Takeover The Takeover

Per LAPD:

“Today, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Central Bureau, in conjunction with members of the Street Racing Taskforce, conducted a public safety operation addressing illegal motorized mini‑bike activity on the Sixth Street Bridge.

Officers encountered a group of more than 70 young people — many of them minors — operating unauthorized motorized mini bikes while blocking the bridge, performing donuts and wheelies, riding on the wrong side of the roadway, and weaving in and out of traffic. The group was accompanied by lead and trail vehicles operated by adults, some identified as parents, who were active participants. This dangerous activity places riders, motorists, pedestrians, and other roadway users at risk while disrupting traffic and preventing residents from safely using public streets.

We approached this operation with an abundance of care and caution because these were young people — many who may not fully understand how dangerous these bikes can be when used on active roadways.

Pocket bikes have no required safety equipment, low visibility, and high instability, especially on a major city bridge. One wrong move can lead to catastrophic injury. We intervened today to prevent exactly that.

During the operation, officers safely detained several riders and issued citations pursuant to California Vehicle Code Section 21720. Additionally, the involved motorized bikes will be impounded for a minimum of 48 hours.

Since many of the participants were minors, our focus was on education and getting them home safely. Officers contacted parents and guardians, explained the risks, and ensured every young person left the area without injury. The goal was never to criminalize these young people, it was to prevent a tragedy on one of the city’s busiest and most iconic roadways.

This enforcement is about public safety, education, and prevention.“
