OCD is not just “cleanliness” or “needing to be organized”. It is so, so much more than that.

October is OCD Awareness Month and I want to do my part in spreading information about what true OCD looks like online — something I wish I would have seen when I was in the thick of it, dealing with it alone, and telling myself that it was just “part of me” and that I had to “suck it up”.

OCD is a disease. It is a mental illness that can be so extremely debilitating. And if you are struggling with OCD, compulsions, or obsessive thoughts, please seek out help. There are things, such as medication and therapy, that can help you so your OCD no longer controls your life.

This isn’t my normal content so if you’re still reading, thank you. To my fellow OCD strugglers: I see you. I hear you. I understand you. You are not alone.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington argued on Tuesday for Judge William Sullivan to enter a required finding of not guilty for Lindsay Clancy, arguing that the prosecution did not prove that she is guilty. Prosecutors argued there was plenty of evidence, calling Reddington’s claim “laughable”.

Now, Judge William Sullivan has denied the defense’s motion.

In his ruling, Judge Sullivan said prosecutors had provided adequate evidence for a jury to decide whether Clancy was the person responsible for the killings.

“There was evidence introduced, both physical and circumstantial, that would permit a rational trier of fact to find beyond a reasonable doubt the elements of the charge of murder.”

The judge denied a similar motion during the trial — this is standard defense procedure. This just means that things will continue to move forward with a new trial unless the DA decides to offer a plea deal or drop the charges.
