Sittin' in the back yard soaking up the summer sunshine AND the unique music collection of The Mellow Sound, I'm reminded of this quote from Joni Mitchell. This is what we are all about. 😎

Just a few of The Mellow Sound ladies we love to spin everyday and have been with us since the beginning. You know 'em: Joni, Kim, Rita, Valerie, Linda, Maria and Jennifer. Listen for their hand picked album tracks.

With all the current talk about "artificial intelligence" and data centers writing and performing music, we like to touch base with reality. Great original songwriters have always been the mainstay of The Mellow Sound. And it goes well beyond the hit making stars of the pop charts. We are proud to spin the real deal from artists like Kim Carnes, Randy Newman, Wendy Waldman, J. J. Cale and all these seen here. Tune in for the hand picked good stuff 24/7.

There are so many fine women on The Mellow Sound but only one trio. That's the unique Pointer Sisters: Anita, Ruth and June. These ladies bring us their takes on songs by Springsteen, Fagen/Becker, Bob Welch, Allen Toussaint and more every week.

These guys pushed popular music into new places in the seventies. Donald Fagen, Walter Becker and producer Gary Katz teaming up with great players in the studio created essential albums of the original Mellow Sound. And their many hand picked tracks are spinning with us everyday.

There are so many great album tracks from Eagles we just gotta keeping spinnin' everyday. Listen for Ol' 55, Wasted Time, Hollywood Waltz, The Long Run, Doolin-Dalton, In The City and many more. Plus solo tracks by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit and Bernie Leadon. Hand picking just the right Mellow Sounds.

The volunteers at The Mellow Sound love keeping the music and feeling of KNX/FM streaming everyday. Unique music variety and surprises is fun for all. Stay tuned for hand picked tracks from Michael Franks, Carole King, Grateful Dead, Larry Carlton, Heart, Peter Gabriel, Howard Jones, Foreigner, Crowded House and a couple of thousand more.

Just for fun, here's the official KNX/FM poster from 1975. Complete with the ever so mellow and stylish butterfly flyin' through. The message is still the same in 2026. We let the music do the talking AND we are world wide, commercial free. You have probably noticed our audio QUALITY is better than the vast majority of FM stations. It is all for you.
