And lastly—introducing the incredible Athena Elling as “Young Isabelle” 🖤

Athena Elling is a second-degree black belt in taekwondo and the youngest graduate to earn an Associate’s Degree from Irvine Valley College, where she took classes in everything from Computer Science to Contemporary Literature and Abnormal Psychology. It was there, through her film courses, that Athena first fell in love with movies and began enrolling in acting classes.

These days, Athena continues to take college courses in Philosophy, Calculus and US History as she pursues dancing, martial arts and acting on a more full-time basis.

In her spare time, Athena takes care of her two rescue chinchillas, seven chickens and has worked as model, in commercials and sometimes, as a math tutor.

Introducing Justin Powell as “Mr. Whitbury,” Isabelle and Luke’s father, a well respected family man who harbors a dark secret.

Justin Powell is an award winning actor and director who feels both lucky and humbled to be a part of the Ex Memoria team. Recent credits include leads in the upcoming features Rolling, and Big Rage as well as performing in Not Another Midsummer which was nominated for Best Play at the prestigious Broadway World’s Los Angeles Theater Awards. TV credits include co-star roles in Bosch: Legacy (Amazon), and Wild West Chronicles, (NBC/Peacock). Studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Upright Citizens Brigade and has trained with Lesly Kahn, Anthony Meindl and John Markland.

We are elated to announce that INTO THE THICKET is chosen as an “Official Selection” for the 16th Annual Burbank International Film Festival in Burbank, CA! We will be screening on September 28th @ 10 AM at the prestigious Burbank AMC 16 Theatres as part of the “Fantastic Films by Women #1” block ✨This will be a special screening for us—much of our team will be in attendance, including our Writer/Director, Devany Greenwood, Executive Producer, Maria Magalhães, Director of Photography, Naomi Amarger, Production Designer, Stephanie Anne Jöens, and our three magnetic actresses, Lana Vanzine, Dina Selimovic and Rachel Alig.

Prelim Scout for EX MEMORIA ✅ Never been more in love with a location before. I dreamt about this house for *months*—it literally became a compulsion. Like I was being called to the house. Locations have always been at the heart of my storytelling. I wanted the house to be a living entity in its own right. A house that would intimidate, a presence that would linger, a welcomed haunting.

We are SO elated to announce that Picture’s Up! Film Festival has nominated INTO THE THICKET for the “Best Cinematography” Award ✨This nomination is beyond deserved for our incredibly talented cinematographer, Naomi Amarger. As soon as I saw Naomi’s work, and met with her, I knew I couldn’t possibly do this story justice without her at the helm. Her inimitable sensibility is at the very heart of our film and we couldn’t be more overjoyed, and immensely proud, that her stunning work is being recognized.

We are thrilled to announce that Elise Greene has joined the Ex Memoria team as lead producer 🖤

Elise Greene is a producer and SAG actor. As a UCLA Producing Program alumnus, Elise mentors filmmakers in navigating and understanding the entertainment business as a working producer of feature films, short films, and independent cinema. Her projects have been featured on Amazon, HBO, and multiple top tier film festivals including Hollyshorts.
Her most recent acting credits include Shameless (Showtime), Chicago PD (NBCU), Nobody Wants This (Netflix), The Mysterious Benedict Society (Disney+), A California Christmas: City Lights (Netflix), Incantation (Shudder), The Sound (Lucas Films), & One And The Same (Gravitas Ventures).
Elise has dedicated her career to uplifting the work of female filmmakers and is a member of Women in Film.
