This Day in Buildings History 🏙️

The birth of Fazlur Rahman Khan (1929)

A Bangladeshi-born engineer who moved to the US, Khan developed a revolutionary “tube” structural system, making skyscrapers safer, stronger, and far more efficient. His innovations made the modern supertall building boom possible, including in the World Trade Center in 1972 (which broke the Empire State Building's 41-year streak as the world's tallest building).

Khan passed away in 1982, but his structural systems are still used in skyscrapers around the world today, making him one of the most influential engineers in building history.

In the USA, Senators and House Representatives often question officials, organizations, and institutions directly in public hearings. They push for clear, straightforward answers - sometimes even limiting responses to a simple 'Yes' or 'No'. It may sound easy, but in reality, it’s extremely challenging and puts a lot of pressure on those being questioned.

If something like this were practiced in our country, the situation would be very different. People from various institutions or positions of authority might not tolerate such direct questioning - honestly, the person asking those questions might face serious consequences the very next day.

And yes, I’m saying this seriously…😆😂
