Sometimes the hardest thing Jesus asks us to change is not our circumstances… but ourselves.
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
— Luke 6:46
Those words are easy to read…
until we realize Jesus is not speaking to strangers.
He is speaking to people who already call Him Lord.
People who pray.
People who worship.
People who know His name.
And that makes the question much harder.
Because following Jesus is not only about what we say in church.
It is revealed in what we do when nobody is watching.
When someone hurts us, do we forgive?
When pride tells us to fight back, do we choose humility?
When God says wait, do we trust?
When He says let go, do we release it?
When obedience costs us something, do we still obey?
We can say “Jesus is Lord” with our mouths…
while quietly telling Him,
“But let me stay in control of this part of my life.”
Maybe that is the part of Luke 6:46 that should make us stop.
Jesus isn't asking for louder words.
He is asking for a surrendered heart.
So before you ask God to change your situation today,
ask yourself:
“Is there something He has already asked me to change?”
Something you keep delaying.
Something you keep excusing.
Something you already know you need to surrender.
Because sometimes the answer we've been praying for begins with an act of obedience we've been avoiding.
Jesus, be more than the Lord I call upon.
Be the Lord I actually follow.
🙏 If you are ready to surrender your will to Jesus today, comment: “YOUR WILL, LORD.”
And share this with someone who may need this reminder today.
