Just over a week away!! Join us at this year's first Community Workshop - Hungarian Dance in the Szilágysági style - brought to you in partnership with the Hungarian Folklife Association.

On Nov. 1st, 2025 The Tamburitzans Cultural Center will transform once again into község of dance and fellowship, where all dance lovers are invited to jump in to learn about this exciting art form. Whether you've been dancing for years or you'd like to try something new - all are welcome at this and any Tamburitzans Community Workshop.

Two events with Flaska band from Hungary on Sun. 11/23/25: concert at 12 noon and dance house with teaching circles between 5PM-10PM – in New Brunswick, NJ

A Flaska bandáról: “A mi célunk az,hogy mindenkit feltöltsünk, akár egy hosszú út előtt a flaskát. Ezt az útravalót szeretnénk mindenki számára megteremteni a mi eszközünkkel, a népzenével. Azzal a népzenével, amit évszázadok óta őriznek és adnak tovább. Ezt az értéket próbáljuk mi is a flaskánkban vinni, ahová csak lehet és ameddig csak lehet.”

About the Flaska Band:
The goal of the band is to fill everyone up, like a flask is filled before a long journey. They wish to create this travel material for everyone with their tool: folk music, that has been preserved and passed on for centuries. They also try to carry this value in their flask, wherever they can and for as long as they can.
• Over 100 performances in 24 countries, at major festivals and concert halls
• Since 2017, the official ensemble of the Hungarikum Department of Hungary’s Ministry of Agriculture
• Ensemble includes string and wind instruments, cimbalom, vocals, and folk dance
• Members are all conservatory-trained musicians who also teach folk traditions
• Two released albums: one traditional folk compilation, and one Christmas album

About the Concert:
Advent in the Carpathian Basin is a festive musical journey through the winter and Christmas traditions of Hungary and its surrounding regions. The program features vibrant instrumental folk music, traditional dances, carols, and storytelling—performed by classically trained musicians deeply rooted in village traditions. It is heartfelt, family-friendly, and highly engaging.

About the Dance House:
Dances from various regions of Hungary and Transylvania will be taught to everyone by advanced dancers. Bring your dance shoes! All ages welcome. We will start with dances for kids. Live music by Flaska band throughout the evening (5pm-10pm)!
