Who owns your book after it’s published?
It’s something every author should understand before signing a publishing agreement.
Before you commit, make sure you know:
📖 Who owns the copyright?
Your agreement should clearly explain who retains ownership of your work.
✍️ What publishing rights are being granted?
Understand whether the publisher receives exclusive or non-exclusive rights, and exactly what those rights cover.
🔐 Who controls your publishing accounts?
Know who has access to your Amazon KDP, Ingram, or other publishing accounts and what happens to that access later.
📄 What does your agreement actually say?
Don’t rely only on what’s discussed over a call. Read the agreement and make sure the terms match what you were promised.
Your book is your work. Make sure you understand what you’re agreeing to before you publish it.
