What is gamivis?
There is an increasing need for fast-turnaround previs to help inform the production shoot creatively and technically. The quick turnaround required generally doesnât allow for a traditional previs approach. As a workaround for this, TTF has created a variation of previs, âgamivis, which accomplishes the informative aspect of previs (character blocking, VFX timings, camera movements, etc.) using streamlined visuals (simple character rigs with reduced textures, key frame poses and geometric shapes). While the approach needs to be agreed to by principle creatives ahead of work so everyone knows what type of âvis to expect, it allows a complex sequence to be blocked with filmmakers by a team of artists in minimal time.

For scenes like the fast-paced bunker escape through Argentinian mineshafts, the previs process was used to help block story and action, as the filmmakers played up both the danger and comedy of the situation surrounding the characters. âThis scene was particularly challenging due to multiple mini storylines that the filmmakers were interweaving through these beats. The previs pass helped make clear how to focus the main narrative while continuing to give each character their own comedic and action momentsâ Visualization Supervisor Todd Constantine remarked.
The entire film traverses both comedy and suspense, striking a perfect balance of humor and danger, often at the same time. âThe thing I found the most fun working on this project was being able to brainstorm ideas with the director (as he was also the writer) as we collaborated to bring out his vision of the film in previsâ Constantine added. #rednotice #netflix

The Third Floor Beijing has contributed to the launch trailer of Tencent Gamesâ newest edition of the video game CrossFire.
Artists worked with the client to previsualize shots at the early creative stage of the project, putting ideas in motion and providing a representation of the creative vision that built upon 2D storyboards.
Through the previs work, the client was able to advance and iterate on many different aspects of the creative treatment â character bios, scene geography, character placement, character acting, scene timing and camera cinematography, prior to commencing final trailer production.
The previsualization phase also helped bring out ideas and visual directions that could be communicated and engaged with across the creative and production teams.
The visual templates and narrative established by the client through previs and shared with key collaborators also helped smooth and accelerate post production as other contributors produced final shots.
