I have so much respect for Sokin. How venerable he gets about this, not afraid to share his story. Coming back from that is an amazing accomplishment. But coming back and writing your best work, some of the best work of all time, is on a completely different level. Like The West Wing. The Social Network. It really is motivating. Reminds you to never give up and get focused. One page at a time. I’m so excited for The Social Reckoning. Can’t wait to read the script too. When it’s available.

Feeling under the weather today, so here’s a repost of one of my favorite clips I’ve made of Willem Dafoe. Love him. One of the best actors of our time with an amazing rage, like they talk about. From Jesus Christ to Green Goblin. I remember being mesmerized when I first saw him as Green Goblin back in 2002. Absolutely blew me away. His performance is a huge reason why that movie was so damn good and successful. But I also love his more subtle characters. Like Bobby in The Florida Project. He really is one of the goats. He truly embodies letting go and getting lost in the moment.

Hoffman is talking about his kids at the beginning. Being in the moment with them. The happiness that brings him. But what does it mean when the past creeps in? Even if it might be a good memory, is that when happiness ends. Can happiness be unconditional? Such an amazing conversation. Probably my favorite Hoffman interview. They basically talk philosophy the whole time, but delving into acting, cinema, and his career too. Highly recommend checking it out on YouTube. Channel below.
