Japanese producer Fumitake Tamura announces 𝑴𝒊𝒋𝒊𝒏, a meticulously crafted, delicately nuanced new album featuring Saul Williams and Sam Gendel, out April 10th.

Lead single “Resonance” is out now, featuring Saul Williams weaving his deep, hypnotic spoken word through drifting Fender Rhodes and shifting rhythms.

“The title 𝑴𝒊𝒋𝒊𝒏 comes from a Japanese word meaning "very fine particles". The album gathers particle-like sounds and allows them to resonate in space. As I watch the movements that arise between them, a balance gradually takes shape. Within those relationships and the quiet tension between them, I explored how silence can resonate with sound.

The album begins with the most minimal piano chords then develops by reconstructing fragments of voice and percussion, Rhodes and synths along with traces of jazz and soul. Each sound exists like a particle drifting in air, gently resonating with the others to form the structure. I hope that the spaces and silences created by this placement will appear with a presence equal to the sounds themselves.”

アルバムのタイトル「微塵（Mijin）」は、非常に細かい粒を意味する日本語に由来しています。
“微塵な音”を集めていき、空間の中で響かせながら、それらのあいだに生じるわずかな動きを見つめていくと、やがて全体のバランスが形づくられていきます。
そういった関係性と、そこで生じる緊張のなかで「沈黙」と「音」が、どのような共鳴を起こすのかを探りました。
アルバムは、録音されたピアノの最小限の和音から始まり、断片的な声やパーカッション、Rhodesやシンセサイザー、そしてジャズやソウルの残響を再構築しながら展開していきます。
音は空気中に漂う粒のように存在し、それぞれがゆるやかに響き合いながら構成をつくっていきます。
その配置によって生まれる「間」や「沈黙」が、音と同じくらいの存在感をもって現れてくれることを願っています。

Recorded live across two events in Los Angeles, Carlos Niño & Friends’ 𝑬𝒍𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 / "𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉" brings together a wide circle of musicians moving as one, built from guitar, drums, saxophone, synths, percussion, and the fluid spoken word of Saul Williams

𝑬𝒍𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 was captured during Leaving Records ‘Listen to Music Outside in the Daylight Under a Tree’ series, recorded by Bear Glass and in collaboration with Living Earth for a California wildfire fundraiser in February 2025, with Saul Williams and Maia the Artiste’s voices at its center. A performance documentary video by Jackie Radinsky commemorates an important milestone of community activation in Elysian Park, Los Angeles that day. "𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉" was recorded at Earthstar Creation Center in Venice, in collaboration with LA indigenous group Aztlan Unearthed, drawing on hand drums, flutes, birdsong, shells, gongs, bells, rattles, and chant. Saul’s viscerally heart-open poem at the end of this piece was recorded in Paris, intentionally entering / overlapping toward the fade of the ensemble, then extending out a capella.”

‘I wrote my song “Echoes of the Heart” as a peaceful melody that brings me immense serenity and hope for my future. At the time , none of that was happening and I needed to create that space for myself. Creating this piece not only provided a calming escape but also challenged me to deepen my understanding of woodwinds. The intricate nuances and techniques required pushed me into new insights of what’s possible, allowing me to grow as an artist.’
