Talking LGBTQ+ PRIDE With Revry TV

PRIDE is more than a celebration — It’s a movement of love.

June is PRIDE Month and it’s a month that celebrates everything we love and value. Living in times where the LGBTQ+ community can not only express who they are on their own terms, this month acts as a reminder that love is love and our job as humans is to embrace the diversity while championing inclusion.

Inclusion extends into so many spaces from art to entertainment to tech and health and beyond.
So when Statista recently reported that people around the world streamed 584.7 billion hours of live app content in 2021, it makes it crystal clear that the demand for worthy content is ever-growing.

We spoke to the founders of the all LGBTQ+ streaming platform, Revry.

Santa Barbara proves to be a soul reset

Santa Barbara has always been a California city that held a special place in my heart. Whether I was a teenager visiting friends attending UCSB, eating late night $5 burritos at Freebird’s in Isla Vista (before anyone knew about it), or wandering the cliffs where marine biology students would study the flourishing sea life, my love for the area began in my youth. When someone would ask where I wanted to retire, I’d always say Santa Barbara. The prestige, the laid back attitude, the fact that most everyone was nice … it is an undeniable draw.

Fast forward to now, COVID finally becoming less of a fear factor (variants and all) and travel becoming far more intriguing, when it was time to escape the normalcy of the every day it was The Santa Barbara House that beckoned. Initially I researched hotels, but the cost of hotels has become so inflated, a plane ticket to Europe is almost the same price as three nights away. This time I searched for the perfect place. A growing fan of Air BnB Plus, I found a charming, beautiful house in the heart of downtown called The Santa Barbara House.

Cinco De Mayo | Celebrating Mexican Culture

As a proud granddaughter of Mexican and Spanish immigrants who called Los Angeles home, any chance we have to celebrate Hispanic, Latino and Chicano heritage is something we love. Note that Los Angeles is the largest Hispanic-populated county in the U.S.! Viva la Mexico y feliz cinco de mayo!

15th Annual International Design Awards

"This year as I viewed the architecture and interior design submissions, it was like a wave of optimism, hope and ingenuity poured over us jurors. I could not believe how thoughtful every design was. The way designers took such a difficult moment in time (pandemic) and used it to create projects that brought life and innovation to the very essence of their vision was truly inspiring. The submissions this year had something incredibly unique versus years passed. It felt like each of them put love into their work. It was evident in the way they valued community, shared spaces, and design that integrated more than just a contemporary slant. It felt deeply personal and beautiful and hopeful. It was an honor to view each and every one.

COVID may have halted a lot of things, but it birthed creativity in ways I've never seen." — Dawn Garcia

"From the blueprint of a screenplay to the intricacies of editing, sound mixing, set design, wardrobe, makeup and special effects, the art department, acting, directing, producing, and the sheer undeniable magic that the world of film is wholly responsible for, this museum is unlike any other. Paying tribute to those behind the scenes and in front of the camera, the museum is a historic walk through the birth of film, the power of story, and the fantastical elements of the visual arts.

One of our favorite rooms is the Spike Lee room. Consisting of Lee’s films, including documentaries that showcase the social and racial injustices plaguing this nation (and much of the world) the story told is one of love, transparency, racism, power, and the fight to overcome division and oppression. Like all of his work, the connection to the fabric woven by his films and documentaries to making powerful statements sound loudly and prophetically."

If you asked any one of us what we imagined 2022 to be, I'm hoping the answers are filled with optimism, because the last two years? Damn have they been rough. This is a brand new year and that means kicking ass in life is entirely up to us. So instead of writing some colorful prose about what's ahead, I invite you to ditch making resolutions and instead change your damn life. If you want that dream job? Do the work to get it. If you want a fit and healthy body? Get after it. If you want to be a better you? BE. A. BETTER. YOU. This year is about making choices and taking the power back. We can't wait to see what you do. Welcome to 2022!

Mexican Cinema Is Prolific

Mexican cinema is one of the most prolific and mesmerizing realms of filmmaking. From small visionaries to Oscar winners, the world seen through the Mexican lens is one to celebrate.

We believe the power of story exists in many forms. The Golden Age of Mexican Cinema brought Mexican film to the forefront, and while the nostalgia of times passed continues to leave an indelible mark, modern cinema is quickly rising in the ranks. But in order to appreciate where we’re heading, it’s important to remember where it began. In an article titled, The Golden Age of Mexican Cinema: A Short History, Lauren Cocker writes, “Mexican cinema in recent years has gone from strength to strength, but it’s yet to live up to the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema that spanned from 1936-1959.

“The ability to see beyond the scope of limitations is the playfulness behind DeJesus’ art”

From the moment we come into this world, we are surrounded in artistic elements from those born in nature to those that exist in color palettes, textures, and every element of #design. #Art is the threshold at which an element of the human species is completely stripped down into its most honest and beautiful form—and it becomes the catalyst to our soaring #imagination.
If we’re lucky, we are aware of art and its influence on us as young children and inevitably, throughout our lives. And the more we expose ourselves to the power and unification of art, we invite a sense of purpose and inspiration that is rarely found in any other outlet.

Artist and model, Kim DeJesus is the kind of artist and creative being that is able to tap into the innocence and unexplored beauty existing in the rawness of art.
