I Only Stepped Away for Three Minutes—But What My Toddler Did Left Me SpeechlessI was just grabbing a diaper—barely three rooms away, maybe a minute and a half, tops. I could still hear laughter echoing as I came back down the hall.
There was Mika, my toddler, kneeling proudly next to his baby brother like he’d just completed a masterpiece. Leif, our newborn, lay quietly on the rug, eyes wide, watching the ceiling.
At first glance, it was sweet. Mika had taken off one of his socks and gently put it over Leif’s tiny foot—like he was trying to share. But then I saw what was in his hand.
A zipper.
He had completely unzipped Leif’s onesie. His little arms were out, belly bare and chilly. And right in the middle of his chest, Mika had carefully placed a plastic dinosaur—as if his baby brother needed some kind of brave, roaring heart.
I opened my mouth to correct him—but then something else caught my eye. Just behind Leif’s head, partly tucked under him, was something I hadn’t expected: the unopened envelope I’d hidden on top of my dresser.That moment 👇 Full story in the first comment.
