On the Meet the Press talk show, US Senator Chris Murphy delivered a blunt assessment of the US war on Iran, admitting that US President "Donald Trump has lost this war" and arguing that the longer the war continues, " gets weaker, Iran gets stronger."

As for the proposed deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, said, "What a victory for Iran that at the end of this war," Iran could receive "$1 billion a year" in exchange for reopening the strait.

Despite calling the potential agreement "a terrible bad deal," Murphy said he would still support it to end the war on Iran, warning that Americans are ultimately paying the price as "people here in the United States get screwed as prices go up and up and up."
