Question for everyone. I’ve camped my entire life but always in a tent whether it’s in a campground or backpacking. This is only our second trip in our camper. Nobody is outside at the two campgrounds we’ve stayed at. We got our camper to enjoy traveling and being outside. So my question is it normal for everyone to set up then stay inside? If I was gonna set inside and watch tv I’d stay at home.

Hey there! My wife and I purchased a 2021 Artic Wolf 3770 Suite about 3 and a half months ago and are living in it full time. I am curious though as to how big of a truck I’d need to pull it 😬 I was leaning more towards a 3/4 Ton due to us not really planning on doing any cross country travel, and we also won’t really be moving it very much at all (we had it delivered to the KOA we’re at). I was hoping to get some opinions as I was thinking like a 04-15 F250 would be fine 👀
P.S
Don’t mind my little F150 behind it 🤣

Trying to think of bills you would have monthly or annually. Am I missing anything?
Edit.. We will have a saving account set aside for only repairs/replacements. Maintenance.
Im thinking monthly things. Like in a house. You have utilities. Ill add house supplies with food runs. (Cleaning stuff ect.) Dont have a washer/dryer yet. So laundry is a good thing to add.

My fiancé and I have finally finished restoring/updating a camper we bought off marketplace. The camper had sat for a while unused. We’ve gone through it as well as we can with a fine tooth comb and think we’re ready to take off on our first adventure but I am SO anxious. 😅 What are some things you veteran campers don’t leave home without and always keep in the camper? Anything we should double check on the camper before our first trip? We (I mean he) is so excited but I can’t help to think that we’ll be total newbies and not have proper camper-life etiquette as we’re used to tent camping. 🫣😅

The strangest thing happened last night. My wife and I have been full time traveling for almost 4 years. 3:00 this morning an emergency siren went off in the small town we are staying in. I was raised in tornado country so it had my undivided attention. I was outside in my underwear trying to assess the situation to figure out if I needed to find a storm shelter or evacuate. There wasn't anything going on. No police or firetrucks with announcements. No other neighbors outside. It just went back quiet once the siren stopped(went on for a solid 3 minutes). I went back to bed and laid there googling what that siren meant and never came up with an answer. We have been here a couple weeks and this is the first time it has gone off that we have heard.
So this morning on my walk I talked to one of the camp hosts across the park and asked what that was all about. She told me that is how the voulenteer fire department alerts its members of a call and they will run it until they have enough people respond. I am pretty sure technology has come far enough along that you dont need to wake an entire town every time there is an emergency call. Now I have another question to add to my list when I check in somewhere. "Do you have emergency sirens that go off in the middle of the night that I dont need to respond to?"
Curious if anyone else has had similar experiences?

Hey so me and my wife came home from church and left the ac running for the dog as per usual. No issues, came home and started playing the game, no issues, starting running the microwave, no issue, well I used the air fryer as I have in the past and all of a sudden everything turned off. We tried all the fuses in and out of the camper, and then we discovered the breaker box at the campground is fried.
This is the breaker box, it does not looked burned out in the outlet, it was alittle warm but no burned or melted. The owner said maybe the fuses blew out in the box.
The Lord made it nice and sunny and Hot and so we are alittle out of sorts today now. Can someone show me where the fuses are so I can fix them?

Planning vs Winging it:
It seems the most anxiety inducing aspect of this life for new full timers is the uncertainty of having a place to stay. Many new full timers plan out months to even years in advance. There is a false narrative out there being circulated that if you don’t book 6 months in advance you’ll be sleeping in parking lots. But clearly based on posts this level of planning and executing a detailed itinerary (schedule) causes its own stress.
As a new full timers back in 2020 I fell into this trap. We hit the road and I had 7 months booked. Great right? Wrong. First hiccup was we arrived at a highly recommend campground with good reviews but we didn’t like it. But we had booked 2 weeks so we stuck it out but didn’t enjoy it. A couple weeks later a campground we had reservations at for 2 weeks canceled our reservation last minute due to an emergency. The whole house of cards that was our “schedule” fell apart. So I got on the phone and started looking for a place to stay. To my surprise it was pretty easy to find another campsite. Then we started meeting experienced full timers and sharing our story. All of them gave us a form of the same advice: stop planning, start traveling. Planning is a job, traveling is an adventure.
Now before you light me up in the comments, we don’t just drive into a campground at 4PM and ask for a site. We only stay a week or so at a time (long term RVing is a different animal) . But we don’t plan months in advance either. There is a middle ground that a lot of experienced full timers use: Book a week or so in advance. For us that takes one of 2 forms. If we are generally headed a direction we look out 250-300 miles for something interesting and find a campground near it. If we are just hanging around an area (like Florida in winter) we just look and see what’s available in a reasonable driving radius. Often we’d go on the state park or COE websites and look for cancellations. Yes we have traveled Florida several winters without planning ahead. 41 foot fifth wheel. Worked out just fine. No planning stress.
The planners don’t believe me when I tell them its possible to wing it so I challenge the planners to try something. Don’t cancel your plans but just try checking campsite availability around your next destination a week or 2 in advance. You may be surprised.
Are you a planner or a traveler?
Safe travels.

Hey Guys! It's crazy me. The dude that asked about buying a motorhome 3000 miles away and driving it back home across country a couple weeks ago. Well after all of your feedback I flew to California this past weekend to check it out...to just make sure I like it and to have it inspected...and IT WENT AWESOME!
The inspector spent 9 hours going over everything. Said it was the nicest 20 year old motorhome he's ever seen. Literally ZERO big issues. All simple maintenance stuff to be addressed. Like fixing blinds or troubleshooting a light etc. I'm so excited! So it looks like my wife and I will be flying back out there on May 1st to pick up the bus!!!! Then we will drive it back home to NC over 11 days! We can't take too much longer because we have to get back to our kids. They aren't out of school yet and unfortunately we can't push the trip until they are.
The next hurdle that I needed to address is internet. I'll be working from the road a few hours a day. I have Starlink and will be shipping it out to the sellers house. I found this really cool vehicle mount for it called the Trio Flat Mount. They have one that uses magnets so I wouldn't even have to drill holes in the roof of the RV. Does anyone have one of these? It definitely looks like something I need to get. I can't believe it. I'm so excited.
Thanks for everyone's feedback so far. This is going to be a heck of an adventure. ❤
***SIDE NOTE*** My family and I travel for fun. It is not my business. I make ZERO money on anything. I would never ask anyone to buy anything or for any money. So if this post gets copied and placed somewhere by someone other than me...it's not real.

We have a 1 year old that loves to go up the stairs. Unfortunately, she fell down them and ended up with a small cut. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to block these off?
Thank you.
I have read all of the comments. Most of them were appreciated. So for those, thank you.
She is not going to grow up to be a "snowflake" as some of you have stated. She has had her share of bumps and bruises and has been told your ok, brush it off. When we are in the camper I do work with her to learn to go down. But, there are times that you have to fix dinner or whatever and cant have your eyes on her the entire time. That is when I want her to be protected.
Thank you to those who made some good suggestions!
