It's summer, and I am hearing a lot of my friends talk about insect bites and spider bites. Let me introduce you to a little plant called Plantain. You probably call it a w**d. It grows everywhere, even in gravel, as you can see. For bites of all kinds you can not beat this plant. Just pluck a leaf, crush it up with your fingers, and hold it on the bite. You can even put a band aid over it and hold it there that way for a while. The leaf will draw the poison or venom out of bite. It's magic. I have friends who have used it on brown recluse spider bites with great success.

No project pic today, just a soft goodbye to my beautiful mom, who passed away peacefully this evening. She was 101.

A full century of loving plants, fabrics, scraps, soil, and soul.

She’s the reason I ever cared about creating something from nothing. She believed in patching things, in growing beauty where others saw waste. Even in assisted living, she had a window full of plants and a drawer full of thread and buttons, and somehow always needed more of both.

Her absolute favorite thing? Geraniums.

And turning “trash” into something tender.

She once made a jewelry box out of a tea tin and three wooden clothespins. I still use it.

But last year, she started getting quiet. Said things like,

“I’m not much help to anyone these days.”

And that’s when we helped her open a tiny Tedooo app shop, not to sell, really, but to connect.

She listed a few of her sachets made from fabric scraps. Posted a guide on making planter cozies from old socks (yes, really). And suddenly people were messaging her. Asking for tips. Thanking her for showing them “how to see differently.”

And just like that, she was back.

Not just crafting, but teaching. Laughing. Alive.

Tedooo didn’t change her. It just gave her back to herself.

So if you’ve got a chipped mug, a lonely button, a half-finished something make it into something.

Not for perfect. Not for profit.

But because she believed everything could have a second life.

And honestly?

She was right.

I need help. I have had this aloe vera plant for about 3 years and it was doing great but needed to be moved to a bigger pot so I transplanted it and put it outside to get real sunlight and this is the result....

What can I do to help this plant???

UPDATE: I brought the plant inside and it's at least more than halfway green again!

“So, I was sitting on the toilet peeing this morning, and I heard a loud boom in my house. Rowdy started barking and going crazy; It sounded like it was coming from the front door, like either a window or a door was busted. So mid-pee, I jumped up, threw my un**es on, and grabbed the gun in my nightstand. I ran to my living room, and saw no one. I immediately called Brian (because I can overreact sometimes); and he told me to go through the house and check it out with him on the phone, with the gun. I threw open our bedroom doors, checked all the windows… nothing. So, I decided to check my hall bathroom. (It doesn’t have windows, but just in case.) I pushed on the door, but I couldn’t open it. Something pushed back!
I started freaking out, screaming, ‘I have a gun!’ I set the alarm off, grabbed Rowdy, and left my house! I was on the phone with Brian, this whole time. He had to get off the phone with me, because the security system was calling him. I called my mom to tell her someone was in my house! Then, I drove to the Dollar Store, up the street. I saw the police officer drive into the subdivision; and shortly after that, the police called and asked me to come to the house. I walked up (with no pants), and asked to put pants on… Police officer said he would check out the house. I sat in my car and waited until he came out to tell me that it was a curtain rod—a freaking curtain rod!
I had run out of my new house, in my new neighborhood, in my underwear; set off the alarm, and called the police…. With literally no bra, no shoes, no pants; a dog in one arm, and a gun in the other; making a mad dash across my yard to get to my car—all because of a curtain rod! I’m done. Stick a fork in me.”
