No Love was the last song we recorded that day. The band had packed up, and it was just me at the piano. After hours of noise and energy, the room went quiet, and I had to sit with the most vulnerable song on the record.

Back then I didn’t know how this project would land. Now it’s out in the world, and I can see it as one story: walking through the parts of myself I used to hide, and ending somewhere softer.

Some places show you exactly who you are.

I ended up at a party in LA where nobody was hiding anything, and I realized I was the one hiding. Behind my judgement. Behind my opinions about how other people love, move, and live.

This song came out of that night. It’s about the moment you realize the eyes you’re judging with are pointed at yourself.

We recorded this at Red Bull Music Studios with a few takes per song. The first four were with the full band, Comfort Zone was just me and Eric, and No Love was me alone at the end. There’s something terrifying about stripping songs down like this. In the studio I can layer, fix and polish until it feels safe. Live, every crack in the voice stays in, and so does every breath.

That felt right for these songs. Judgement, Perfectionism, Unbury Me, PETTY, Comfort Zone, No Love: each one is about a part of myself I spent a long time trying to outrun. The judge in my head, the need to get it perfect, the pettiness, the parts I buried, the comfort that kept me small. Singing them live in one room meant I had to stand in front of all of them at once.

I wrote Comfort Zone while I was stuck: in a relationship, in a job, in a version of myself that felt safe but wasn’t growing. Releasing this now, as I’m stepping into music full-time, feels like closing a loop I didn’t know I’d opened.

we learn how to love from a very young age through observation. we build on that definition of love through trial & error, as each relationship serves as a mirror, teaching us something about ourselves and how we relate to others. learning how to love is one of the greatest joys in life. while I have felt a lot of pain as a result of love, it is only thru the depths of my deepest and darkest emotions that I’ve truly grown & evolved my emotional maturity and consciousness. I always have faith that by allowing myself to deeply feel my emotions, I will emerge stronger and happier on the other side.

I wrote this song about judgment when I realized that there was an insanely judgmental voice in my head that not only was judging others, but it was also judging me and it made me feel like I couldn’t be myself without feeling shame — this voice is not as loud anymore, but every now and then she roars her head & I have to face her.
