My 2 year old spotted this ladybird on the living room wall yesterday, apparently they can't survive very cold winter days so it seems to have come in to spend the winter in our house.
We planned on keeping it safe but unfortunately it disappeared all day yesteday to all of our dismay.. presumed to have flown outside the front door kamikaze style to certain freezing death. However, not an hour ago I spotted it stuck to a small piece of sellotape leftover from a birthday balloon display in the corner of the ceiling.
To keep it safe from hoovers and /or toddlers and on the advice of Google it will be living in a vented container with a natural habitat for the foreseeable future. It has soil, leaves twigs and bark, as well as a wet paper towel for water and honey and raisins to eat. It will have lettuce tomorrow once we've been shopping. It's doing well, it's had plenty to eat and drink. It won't have a name until tomorrow morning. I've been staring at it for an hour and twenty minutes .

It's beyond me why someone would chose this at their vanity plate.Happy to teach you guys a little bit of Yiddish.

In the news tonight I saw that a portion of Interstate 5 was closed in northern California. So I wanted to see what Route Apple Maps would give me if I wanted to go to Redding, California from Woodburn, Oregon. This is probably the most ridiculous route Apple Maps has ever given me and it’s apparently the fastest route.

I enjoy cooking with a theme, and the recent Dune movie had me feeling inspired. How could I capture the glory of Shai Hulud with kitchen-friendly ingredients? Enter the classic meatloaf, wrapped in bacon and fanged with slivers of almond, after much testing. Never had a dull meatloaf and mash dinner looked so vicious.

Last week we had a gas pipe relocated, which required a small hole to be excavated in front of our house. This was carried out efficiently, and we were happy with the small pristine section of new road outside our front door. This week we were delighted that the local highway agency saw it necessary to send a further 2 vehicles to reinstate the historic double yellow lines. Time and money well spent in my opinion.

Before taking my son to the station this morning (departed at 06:52), I noticed this slug heading across the driveway. My immediate thought was about where it thought it was going, and why? Anyway, that thought didn’t last long, before I wondered how far it might get in the 23 minutes it takes me to get to the station and back. So, I marked the position where it was and off I went. Upon my return, I measure it’s journey and found that the slug had travelled 37cm. Yes, I have a tape measure in my car, who doesn’t!?
Now for the science…
At that speed, the slug will travel 96.5cm in 1 hour.
That’s approximately 0.0006 miles per hour.
The driveway it was crossing is 3.42 meters wide. Assuming it took the shortest route possible, it would take the slug 3 hours and 32 minutes to cross the driveway.
Having completed the science, I then wondered what the point was (of the journey, not the science). The slug left a grassy verge and was aiming for a grassy verge. Why take over 3.5 hours to make a journey where the destination is the same as the starting point? What’s over there that slug needed to get to!?

After multiple Oreo sessions using this wee measuring glass for milk, I’ve concluded that a double stuff Oreo soaks up approximately 5ml of milk to achieve my preferred ‘perfect’ softness.

After finding this TWIX wrapper when digging a hole.
I don't know what intrigues me more,if it's the fact that.
1, It's still in pretty good condition although it's from 1982.
2,The TWIX size has remained the same at 50g
a pack.
3,The price difference is probably relatively correct.
4,The consumer still tears the corner the same way to retrieve the stick.
"OR IS IT?"
5,The logo has changed from a slant to the right, to a slant to the left.Who knew???
