American media reports
confirmed, amid allegations that Meghan Markle had marketed a possible book after the divorce, that she and Prince Harry cannot separate, because “their value lies in being a couple.”
A Vanity Fair cover story published last week claimed that the Duchess of Sussex's team had quietly been in talks with an unnamed publishing house to "gauge interest" in the book idea.
However, a source who has worked closely with the couple told Page Six, "Meghan and Harry know they are so attached to each other, and their value is in being a couple, that even if they wanted to break up, they wouldn't be able to. And frankly, they're obsessed with each other. They're just two narcissists."
Another source familiar with the original $20 million deal the two signed in 2021 said they never heard anything about a divorce book.
However, the highly publicized deal, which was originally thought to include books on 'leadership' and 'wellness', appears to have quietly dissipated after Harry's best-selling memoir Spare.
A Vanity Fair source reportedly explained that the so-called "divorce" book was supposed to be about the consequences of separating from Harry, and not about Markle's first husband, Trevor Engelson, whom the Suits star divorced in 2014.
The Vanity magazine report noted that the writers' meeting did not mean that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were separating, but was meant to see if the publisher was "theoretically interested" if a divorce occurred.
