Why the new food pyramid concerns me...
RFK Jr.’s inverted food pyramid pushes 1.5–2x more protein, mainly from animal meat and full-fat dairy. If everyone followed it, we’d see serious pressure on the food system: more feedlot meat, more feed production, and more dependence on global supply chains.
It also comes at a cost. Shifting away from legumes and whole grains toward animal foods could raise grocery bills by 15–25% for the average household.
And from a health perspective, this moves us away from what longevity research actually shows — diets rich in fiber, plants, and whole foods with moderate animal protein.
Nutrition isn’t just personal. It’s economic, environmental, and systemic.
